I totally agree, I just don't have that kind of money right now, hence my question about reading proofs.

I've seen this, but the proofs I've read there seem targeted toward people with a level of mathematical maturity I don't possess yet.

Does The Foundations of Mathematics focus on performing calculations, or does it have proofs as well? I feel like I'm in a hard place because I'm not a total beginner; I've taken calculus I and II, some discrete math, and I&#

I feel like I need something between Proofs from the Book and Fermat's Last Theorem. PftB is too hard, but I'm a bit beyond popular math books.

For things like this (whether they "approved" it or are just investigating it or whatever), how does the ability of the government to legislate and regulate intersect with the rights of people to do as they please? For example, if

Probably because of homotopy type theory, yeah. Why do you think the perceived connection is exaggerated?

As a grug-brained developer, I love the spirit of this, but it's kinda hard to read. Maybe the author can publish an English translation? :)

I have an alternate and, I think, unusual view on this subject, which is that Christianity actually teaches that God's existence is, by design, not proven or provable by nature at all. I think this follows from these facts: 1. Faith is

I didn't think this was true, because your body can't create all the chemicals it needs to continue to function, it has to get some from food. See something like https://www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/que

Anders Hejlsberg, who designed C#, had previously designed Delphi, which has some support for generics (and I believe it had them before he left for Microsoft). I think the case may be that they're not making the same mistakes, but tha

I'd say it doesn't actually matter, as long as the population sampled is made clear to the user. If I ask for pictures of Japanese people, I'm not shocked when all the results are of Japanese people. If I asked for "crim

This raises some really interesting questions. We certainly don't want to perpetuate harmful stereotypes. But is it a flaw that the model encodes the world as it really is, statistically, rather than as we would like it to be? By this

A couple of reasons, both to do with the fact that data memory is scarce on embedded systems. One is that it has high memory overhead (every entry includes a pointer), two is that making many small allocations can cause memory fragmentation
