Go's got an awesome feature set built in to the language for building small networked services. I implemented a client to a cryptocurrency network to extract information about its status and clients. I can't really express why it&

Not really relevant, but using Go to fetch the data, and then Ruby to process the data is the best. I used this exact set up for a project and it was amazing. Really the sweet spot of use cases for both languages.

I also love the touchbar, the only button it's not superior to is the escape button. Who touch types the function keys anyway? Love it for the volume and screen brightness controls. Not too worried about my laptop being killed though,

It's a disgrace the agency who produced this website is not liable for this substandard quality. How crazy is it that code like this is deployed to production and then the customer has to pay 50 million to get it up to standards? The s

We recently decided as a company that the horizontal responsibilities structure doesn't work well at all, at least not at small scale. This was not in the software/infra teams but in our operations but I think there's some ge

On NixOS installing any package is the same as reinstalling the operating system. Reinstalling the operating system just took a minute longer because it had to do more downloading. (edit: in theory, I actually bet that the certificates snea

I couldn't figure out what it was, but it was definitely a problem with NixOS itself, possibly with expired root certificates or something like that. The upgrade command couldn't connect to the nixos servers. I know there was at l

Crazy thing about NixOS is that it's so good, all the bad parts can be excused. I like to go on forums and complain about how the Nix configuration language is horrible, and there's not much documentation on how to get general thi

I would say it's more convenient and useful for servers, but it could also be used for desktop. In theory it's the perfect server operating system, but in practice many sysadmins balk at having to learn the configuration language
