Yeah, Centaur was behind the WinChip, and Via's x86 CPUs. They were bought out by Intel fairly recently though.

The many lead-in paragraphs are a bit abrasive, even if true, and I think they make it difficult to get to the meat of the argument. The lede is quite buried. That said, engineers don't always get as much choice as they should either.

Every Boehm keyed woodwind (most all of them) is a compromise of holes and mechanism. There is no perfect tuning without embouchure. There may also be tuning adjustment available with the amount of cover for a hole, depending on the instrum

Come to think of it, it's also kind of the primal musical 'resolution', from scattered frequencies to a practical unison/octave.

I wish the screen on my car's infotainment system was transflective. The backlight is bright enough for most situations, but with sun directly behind you can't see anything on the display. This is somewhat important for, say, navi

The closest Gameboy to a transflective display was the original Gameboy Advance SP, but that was a front-lit reflective display.

My problem with your take is that the largest danger of driving a car comes from other drivers. Zero fatalities is a pipe dream, yes, but there is still room to prevent more collisions. I would like to see more consistent enforcement agains

And when you have to go to the server to get data, it's often slow with a client-side 'app' anyway. The client-side part doesn't make data transfer any faster.

A chat app is one of those relatively few cases where React makes some sense. But, React is easy and intuitive to use for the use case that makes the least sense. Once you get to complex state, I'd argue that React doesn't help

In many cases you could have a server-side client for your API calls, with a little client-side code for features that actually require it.

Rust doesn't play quite as nicely with Gentoo's packaging system as C/C++, but yes, that seems excessively long. Then again, I'm fairly sure I have starship installed via `cargo install`, not via portage (Gentoo's
