This is happening at both of my companies now. I'm almost to the point of telling them to buy it just so they can tell their golf buddies they're using blockchain too.

I've used it to convert publicly available data to a more useful format. A local government agency made the data freely available as a series of thousands of HTML pages, but not in any other form. I didn't need to use any evasive

I came here to make this same comment. This article barely begins to scratch the surface on this topic. Effective, high volume scraping involves more than just rotating through a list of proxies.

Thank you. This is really great. I think my wife will be very interested in the content they have.

This library looks very interesting. I've used a similar approach for pulling batches of items from a queue (e.g. discover the optimal batch size and inter-poll wait time). There are plenty of other places we could benefit from somethi

I try to ask a simple question that pretty much any half decent developer should be able to solve quickly. Then we have a conversation about it and discuss why they did it, possible problems, how they'd handle new requirements, etc. It

Definitely not as crazy as some of the other posts here, but it felt like a hacky work around for something that probably wasn't really a problem.

An external vendor delivered a new static marketing site written in PHP. Info sec team wouldn't let us install mod_php on the publicly facing servers and the vendor needed more time/money than the budget and timeline allowed to ch

My MS program was very geared towards giving a foundation to pursue a PhD. There were some aspects of it that were tangentially helpful in my career as a software developer, but it definitely was not the focus. Thinking back I feel like it

My only Facebook account has entirely fake data. I use it to coordinate events with a dozen real-life friends. Facebook still manages to suggest new friends that have no obvious relationship to anyone I am friends with. I've never put

I made the jump to Pixel 2 (not XL) a couple weeks ago after being a long time iOS user. I mostly used Google services already, so the transition was very smooth. The Android UX is very good and easy to get used to.

I'd been an Apple fan and happy iPhone user for ~8 years until I updated my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 11. My phone went from snappy to crappy. Apple support told me I couldn't go back to iOS 10, so I figured it was time to buy a new ph
