Why not both? My Model S has these same controls embedded in the steering wheel. Volume, music control, and climate controls are all there. That's actually where I find I spend most of my time interacting with the car. I usually only u

Have you used the Tesla music system before? I use Slacker extensively in the car, and it's entirely skinned to match the car interface. I have no commercials or ads in my streams and the only branding is a small logo in the corner of

Well, AWS explicitly doesn't charge for incoming bandwidth (vs. the "special" deal they got on the 15Mbps line item) which was the majority of their costs. It may have actually made sense, depending on their computing needs.

Does Stripe not combine the charges for multiple subscriptions into one charge? I think that would be pretty smart.

SASS is backed by Ruby, so you can take advantage of all of Ruby's power, including reading from the filesystem. For instance, combined with Compass, you can read image sizes and automatically pull in width and height for a class. Or y

It's a canvas element that they render to now. It's very similar to the previous Flash implementation, in that it's an area of the screen they can draw on. It just happens to be in Javascript instead of Actionscript now.

It's unlikely that any gmail outage would go unnoticed, considering how much activity it gets 24/7. Also, these guys are in engineering. They are very likely not even directly involved when there are outages. They build the syst

Sass + Compass + Foundation is a winning combo. Unfortunately my product is built on bootstrap (using bootstrap-sass at least), so migrating to Foundation would take quite a bit of work.

Yes, the image functions are from Compass, but the underlying mechanics of mapping Sass functions to Ruby code is purely Sass's domain. So, perhaps I misspoke: Sass's power is in its ability to tie it's functions to arbitrar

This article actually misses one of the best features of Sass: It can access and read files. Why is that important? So you can easily reference and use images. Here's a mixin I use constantly: @mixin background-img($image, $width

This looks good enough to be a product on it's own. It's got a crazy amount of polish. I know it's highly-coupled to your particular infrastructure, but would it be possible to open source?

CloudFront has different IPs for different regions and manages this via DNS. So, if you're on an ISP peered directly with CloudFront and make a request using your ISPs DNS servers, CloudFront's DNS might give you back the IP to a

A lot of this has to do with Twenty Twelve being the default theme for WordPress, which used Open Sans as its default font. Many people I've seen either use that theme or some derivative of it (myself included).
