Still using my mid 2014 Macbook Pro. It's running really smoothly with updated software. The outside is prestine as it always has been. I used it extensively in cafes, but the battery is still fine. I work up to 8hrs a day with it and

I use htm (Hyperscript Tagged Markup) instead of JSX and I love it. It's just plain JS and works extremely similar to JSX: https://github.com/developit/htm

I'm kinda surprised nobody has said this about Instagram. Formerly, without an account, you were able to easily browse all content for an unlimited time. Now, after a certain amount of actions or time, it asks you to log in.

I find this argument weird. JS doesn't have Public Class fields yet [1] (stage 3), hence any TS or JS code making use of such concept will differ. Similarly, as reliance of types in JS is not guaranteed, as it may in TS, will produce c

Not sure I get your argument. As far as I understand there's no VM for Typescript specifically. Hence as "no VM" is different from Spidermonkey/V8, Typescript packages should go into its own package manager?

You're making a fine argument, but you assume things freeze in time. Whether or not TS will stick to ECMA script in the future is speculation. A similar argument to yours could be made where we speculated that JS introduces a typing sy

> That is a valid point, but honestly, avoiding (learning) TypeScript as a modern day JavaScript developer is a mistake. You're probably right. My argument, however, was purely about separation of concerns: different language means

To me whether or not using JS or TS as the "gold standard" for a package is insignificant. I've argued that JavaScript is not the same as TypeScript. It may be transpiled but it's not the same. Hence, being kinda pedanti

I think there may be a misunderstanding. I too know that nobody published TypeScript packages directly in NPM, but they always include a transpiled version. Nevertheless it'd consider it a "TypeScript package (that was transpiled

Hi HN, ethnode is actually built mostly by my dear friend @vrde. We had quite some frustration setting up our own private nodes for Ethereum. Ganache-CLI didn't always work for us. That's why @vrde took the opportunity to build et

Yes, it requires resources. I currently run FFMPEG for every video I get. Currently nothing is stopping you from uploading a 10TB video except that maybe my DigitalOcean droplet would run out of space and crash.

My customer is using ipfs-api-js on their website and it uploads to an ipfs node (in our case Infura). In the future we might run a node if the customer requires it. For now Infura is very convenient. My Saas is fetching from IPFS, then reu
