Well, they did manage to cut their energy usage by like 100x. Gotta respect that. Not that I think Eth is currently used for anything but scams.

Bear in mind that Covid has taught us what we can do when we need to, without commuting to work. I suspect a lot of CFOs are going to slap the big kibosh on routine business travel unless you can prove you can't do the job via videoco

Well yeah, but the onrushing climate catastrophe is going to selectively wreak havoc on the poor, and especially poor brown people nearer the equator.

Um, the technology outlook for electric planes that can cross the Atlantic/Pacific at 900km/h is not very promising. Maybe with green hydrogen? But really nothing rivals the energy density of petroleum fuels. It's a hard p

Problem is that the automaton-matching itself is pretty cheap compared with event preparation and I/O and so on, so it's hard to benchmark - next comment says smart things on the subject.

Yep, but you know, I can't stand that web-based viewer, it's got this hair trigger zoom and if I breathe in the direction of the mouse the graph goes hurtling in or out. I used to look at the PDFs but now I just stay in GoLand, wh

See the piece about Quamina on my blog, it's the one before this one.

OK, that `(*container[fish])(t).size())` idiom is um non-obvious. Somebody needs to write a nice simple bloggy step-by-step walk through all these gyrations.

Thanks. But why are methods removed from types defined this way? Is there a good discussion about this somewhere?

Thanks, yep, that works. Updated the blog piece and will improve the Quamina code a bit too.

Oops haha you're right, "G" has two different meanings in the article. Couple proofreaders missed that too. I think most readers are smart enough to figure out which is meant most times?

Um I use our boat as an office, bicycle down to it most days. Ain't spacious or luxurious, but it's waterfront. I live in an ordinary house with decent (~300M) wired connection.

ABetterRoutePlanner is cool but in my experience extremely optimistic and doesn't include fallbacks for blocked/broken chargers.

The non-Tesla public chargers I used are pretty well all at gas stations or big-box stores. So there's always a bathroom, a fast-food joint, and sometimes even a real-food diner.

The public charging tech is improving steadily. You might want to give the Bolt another try at fast-charging. Look for a high-power charger, like 200kW or higher.

Note that the Candela people have videos of their boats running smoothly in waves up to 1.2m. People used to say that electric cars were "nowhere near being a practical solution" until suddenly they were.

The conventional PKIX/PEM is logically equivalent to your s-expression there; I assume you're arguing for using the conventional packing rather than proposing a new s-expression based encoding?

Really?! I read 8032 because people told me I should and all the strings in there are bit or octet strings, anyone looking for textual serialization is going to come up empty. Also 8032 is way too heavyweight for mere mortals. Also bear
