Because many governments rely on children to finance the country's economy? It's still less costly than immigration.

Not sure that this was the real intent. Germany was notorious for having many stay at home mothers. So women had to chose between family and career, which partly explains the low birth rate. Actually it is still the case because school fini

React Native isn't the only abstraction out there. You could use Flutter, Ionic or similar. Or do they have the same issue?

Not the GP, but long term plans are at best inaccurate, worst case completely wrong. Plus, you spent all this time planning instead of implementing/discovering.

You should go to Paris, then. Order a taxi during "peak hours": 5 EUR. Then they charge you with an "approaching fee". Basically, they make you pay for the distance they traveled on their way to pick you up. So last time

I think it has changed recently: https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/22/20977436/twitter-2fa-pho... Still, it's a shame it took them so long to implement a proper 2FA.

I got the same idea during my last team lead gig. I introduced a "interests & responsibilities" matrix, supposed to align team members skills with their interests. Goal was to: * ensure all needed skills are covered within th

Naive question: if media.liberation.fr is a CNAME to a 3rd party ad tracker, why not simply add liberation.fr to the uBO list?

I use none of the above, but I guess you can't autofill smartphone app credential fields with Lockwise, while you certainly can with 1pw.

Clearly, having 0 work hours in common with the rest if the team is a problem. But what if you have at least 2-3 hours per day? You can already discuss a lot of things during that time. I get that asynchronous does not always work, but it h

Clearly, odd working hours doesn't mean communication has to stop. It should be possible to set up asynchronous communication channels, like a collaborative document-editing service (Google Docs, Dropbox Paper, etc).

I have so many questions, but let's start with a few ones: Is this a web application or a smartphone one? What did you have to learn, tech-wise, to be able to build it? How long did it take you, from your first line of code until you r

The best reason to use Kubernetes (and in many cases the only reason) is to boost your employability. It gets harder and harder to find a stack that doesn't rely on it. At my company, we chose to use ECS/Fargate when possible. It

Seems like vendor lock-in is the new term for "Not Invented Here". I also fail to see how Fargate locks you in: as you say, it's just docker and DNS, with a sprinkle of environment variables if you use it with SSM Parameter S
