The argument is that we are taking on too many people and neither jobs nor housing completions are keeping up. There is an element of truth in that however our birthrate is not sustainable, either, so we're caught between those two eve

Ok sure but when I say Canada I am talking about the entire country. I support a cheap, fast line connecting Toronto with its populated neighboring cities. And sure, something between Vancouver and Portland would be fine. But it is not feas

I think in our defense there is simply not enough people and towns to support a rail network like this. A shame, really, 'cause a WestJet flight from Victoria to Calgary is way more expensive than it needs to be and don't even get

That's pretty wild but not obscene. Are your services OK, at least? Or is it like TX or FL where there are little if any state-level income taxes but made up for in property taxes?

I recognize that. I figured my locale -- which is known for a high cost of living, property taxes included -- would be comparable. I am apparently wrong.

Two questions, related: 1. why is this article lumping insurance and property taxes as the problem but never actually specifying how much each contributes? From my experience, neither are particularly expensive and neither come even close t

Yup. I paid like $40CAD for a single Hue lightbulb in 2017 and it's still going. In that time, I've had countless cheap Canadian Tire brand (NOMA) & Walmart brand LED bulbs burn out and need replacing totaling WAY more than $4

Crude, maybe, but my opinion is that if someone -- healthy or not -- does not want to continue living, that's within their right. Add medical / health complications into the mix and it (again, imo) becomes inhumane to _not_ allow

Thanks for sharing your experience. And thanks for acknowledging your part in "the problem" -- truly, a lot of people in your position e.g. immigrate, and then try to pull the ladder up after them.
