Might be worth having a look at Sony if you want to spend more money for whatever reason. Latest Xperia 1 and 5 both have 3.5mm jacks and SD card slots. There is some preinstalled software (camera apps, Google apps, probably FaceBook) but o

The article is woefully short on details, but the news[1] page of the actual project seems to have some more meat. Lots of photos and work in progress reports. Seems they're currently close to having an initial prototype up and running

Thank you Dang, as always! However, I wonder if it's worth keeping the "family of devices" title from the website still. I'm personally not that interested in the ARM part of Tomu, and the reason I submitted the link was

I stumbled upon the Tomu (and hence submitted this story) specifically because I wanted to get my hands on a small/cheap FPGA via the Fomu. Probably picking up the Somu as a Yubikey replacement too. Keep up the awesome work!

It's actually even older--August 2020 according to GSM arena ( https://www.gsmarena.com/cat_s62_pro-10358.php ) Got mine not long after. Kind of surprised to see it make the HN front page in AD 2022.

Agreed. I'd hold off a bit if I were you, unless your current battery is completely busted. Might even be worth seeing if you can replace the battery. The S62 is over 2 years old, and considering Cat hasn't updated it past Android

I used the S62 as a daily driver for a couple of years and it was fairly decent. The convenience of having a thermal camera in your pocket at all times was remarkable, and it's one of those things you kind of miss when it's gone (

Yes, that was my experience too--that it does better at generating articles than answering questions. Prompting it for e.g. "Lit review on stellerators" resulted in a coherent text with actual working doi links relevant to the sub

Maybe I'm misreading something, but I don't understand the discrepancy. According to the wiki article, human output is 363 megatons/year. 111,000 lb/hr = 55.5 tons/hr = 0.5 megatons/year. Still a lot though!

Cool to see a new general purpose search engine with its own crawler! I tried a couple of queries and it worked fine for me. Searching for for inetdex ( https://www.tuxdex.com/?q=inetdex ) returns 1,442 documents that apparen

I don't think Prizren is part of any project name--it just happened to be where DebConf was hosted this year. Unless you're referring to Purism.

I write descriptive commit messages because the code I check in is likely to contain a bug. This bug tends to be discovered a couple of years after I worked on the code. By linking my commit message to an issue and having a good explanation
