In the game "the Riftbreaker" (Tower defense game with resource gathering / research tree) you can use plants to mine rare materials. How cool that it isn't far from reality.

Hm, perhaps there should be a dual column approach to hacker news, upcoming links and populair links.

I'm looking for a tool like this that converts the schema to Laravel model files. Why? Because I'm lazy.

Our continent was free of war for a long time, never would have guessed Russia would attack something almost European. With asshole countries like that, we need it. And then we wonder why the alien's won't show themselves haha.

Or just make it harder to get a new sim card. Why is this so difficult? Only send the card to the correct address etc.

But do you need to get paid for each time someone listens to a copy? The artist isn't doing work for me when I listen to a song. Spotify should pay artists when their songs are added, not when listened.

Tried it for a while but it just isn't working for me. Hangs a lot while using it in my car. Also can't use it with my Android Auto head unit.

Why? Supply and demand. If there is demand then it's fine. If there isn't any thats ok as well.

This was a concern for me, that is why i've used Synergy over VPN and it worked quite well. It also works on networks where you can't reach the other pc's that way.

I've been using Synergy with my mac and windows desktop, and in the past I've used Input Director between two windows machines. It was good enough to game on LAN parties.

This could be a great solution for surplus power dumping perhaps?

Can't seem to join some of the tools from across the pond. What is this sadness.

I often find it weird that we don't have more devices powered by gravity / heavy weight, except our old school scales for weighing our bodies.

There recently was a finding about power lines that also kill numerous birds. What I'd those are attributes to cats?

It would make more sense to use this for certain streams that change a lot and the data is interesting enough to see what happened along the line. But that could be solved within the relational model..

Yeah, ehh I'm just going to stick to good old fashioned relational data.

I really don't see the need for it. Perhaps export tools could use it. For the rest of you have correct tables and joins you can get all the data you need in one query. You could already use multiple subqueries if you wanted.

But the hardships on Mars and the Moon are a lot less violent and different than what we see on earth already. I wonder if our future is under the sea or in more bunker like structures. It probably won't have to be very deep.

I wonder why we don't make floating cities. The rising ocean isn't a problem anymore. Storms probably aren't if the cities is big enough?

Yes, all we need, another layer in Windows. I recently went to Windows 11 and it is stunning that you still have multiple places for settings. How are we going to name the classic settings? Classic classic control panel?

And what if this system was used in the animal world for instant danger recognition etc. we as humans don't need that anymore, because we always grow up in a fast changing environment, where that kind of knowledge is almost obsolete.

Always wondered if the human brain could do an offsite backup somewhere else, redundant in the brain or perhaps in the gut.

Genes are the blueprint but they can be damaged and replicate wrong. That is how stress or poverty "changes" them.. (feel free to correct me). Cancer is also wrong copying dna etc.

Just had the horrible experience once again. Why is this still allowed? I later found out that shipping my stuff was cheaper that checking in a bag..
