Having adopted a number of development tools, including Jira and Confluence, it’s amazing people let them sit there chugging away on underpowered machines with hundreds of users quietly complaining about the speed. Throwing some extra CPU c

Obviously a very different view, but public transport in London (UK) is very much seen as faster than driving. The only reason someone would choose to drive is if they needed to transport something difficult to take on public transport.

I never understood the value of directory mapping when we used Perforce. It only seemed to add complexity when one team checked out code in different hierarchies and then some builds worked, some didn’t. Git was wonderful for having a simpl

But isn't that exactly the previous posters point? Free WiFI someone can just MITM your connection, you would never know and you think its encrypted. Its the worst possible outcome. At least when there's no encryption browsers can

I've never considered ownership in an IaC repo down to the individual resource and I'm struggling to see the usecase. We also use tags/labels to link the generated "thing" back to the repository that created it with

There are venues that support this. Its called continuous, or periodic, auctions. https://www.fca.org.uk/publications/research/periodic-auctio...

Having spent time at a reasonable sized corporate environment with our own CA, I have to agree. Its often a case of its fine until it isn't and different organisations handle it differently. Python requests installed via pip will use i

The problem I see in the UK is a lack of hubs. I wrote to the Department for Levelling Up when it was a thing. Finance has done well in the UK due to London and having a significant number of firms in a single place. I can get a new job for

I'd love to have bundles where you can get the physical and ebook at the same time. Going on holiday it is ideal to have an ebook reader to carry many books, but, like you say, there is something precious about having books lined up on

Isn't there a difference between self-segregation and filter bubbles and how they're perceived? If I go to a woodworking class, I won't be surprised to see people who like woodworking. If I go to the supermarket and everyone

Definitely the realm of homelabbers, but I do. Mainly to segregate IoT devices, users, lab servers. That is only because I want to though, I agree that the average home network will not have VLANs.

You're right. My post was mainly focusing on expenses and living standards. I'm already contributing above average to my pension and I'm hoping that any above inflation payrises I do get go towards retiring early.

I'm in the UK and since buying a house, I really feel no need to keep going higher. Property pricing in the UK is extremely damaging. If I found a job at a higher level that I thought I'd really enjoy and that I'd be good at,

Your product looks really interesting. I'm a big advocate for docs-as-code at my company. We use Confluence generally, but our team uses GitLab and Gatsby for our documentation/blogs as we really value the Merge Request workflow.

I'm by no means an expert, but the difference between passwords and certs is that certs can be used without any interaction with the authority. A leaked password will reveal itself to the authority when used. You have to connect to som

I'm glad the article talks about the positive impact this will have on Sizewell C. The UK completely disregards the long term impact of skills and experience lost when debating whether we should do this kind of project.

If you write a batch file on a Windows PC with Carbon Black on it, you will not be able to run it. Of course there is customisation available to tweak what is/isn't allowed.
