I used to think of commas as verbal pacing cues as well, but they have more in common with parentheses or semicolons in code. The rule I remember now is "Commas are for parsing, not rendering."

One of the things I missed most (and will miss again in a couple of months) are the inside jokes. I guess that falls under watercooler chit-chat, though it's harder to stay in the loop with that. Come July, I'll bid a fond farewell to bal

The idea is that, initially, all cars had toilets (see the invisible emphasis of "only" in "if only fifty percent of the cars would be equipped with a toilet"). Of course, there must have been plenty of cost associated with handling toilet
