I got a call once too regarding some issues with my screenshots and the "large" icon. Same deal, fix it, no requeue. That app does single digit sales a day, so it wasn't because I (or the app) was important or popular. Though I got the impr

AT&T would be better for international roaming just due to the whole CDMA vs GSM thing. The obvious guess would be money. Maybe AT&T offered a better deal. Even without a better deal, manufacturing costs most be cheaper with only on

If you watch some of his "Random" videos with Kevin Rose (especially the ones related to their trip to China), you can hear Tim speak/use Chinese. In Episode 6, he interacts with their waitress and places a customized order. http://www.fou

A couple tips to address some of his issues: Issue: .app directory is browsable, don't use Vista to decompress. Solution: Package your app as an .ipa. It is now no longer a directory, and your use can drag and drop this into iTunes. iTunes

You can manage your provisioning profiles more easily through XCode -> Window -> Organizer. It'll list your profiles by name and expiration date. You can click on them to see more details, and also delete them from there. You'll sti

Maybe I was just lucky (though not that lucky), but it should be pretty easy to make back that $100 even without any marketing. My opinion is that if your app does something slightly useful and basically works, you should be able to make ba

I don't see why the developers can't do additional marketing outside of the App Store. If the App Store didn't exist they would need to do their normal indie developer advertising. Why can't they do that now? And just treat random App Store

I used to sell a PalmOS app for the Treo. My app for the iPhone is much different, but I find the support to units sold ratio to be much better. It's probably something like 1% of the users need support.

I think you replied to the wrong link. I was confused because I was reading about the office closing and couldn't figure out where the 100 positions came from.

I actually prefer the portrait keyboard. After some adjustment and getting used to the iPhone virtual keyboard, I found the landscape keyboard to be more annoying because my thumbs had to travel more to hit the different keys.

The post was two weeks after Palm CEO's remarks. And a month before the iPhone was even announced. I guess that it was "difficult" by your definition then.

For Windows Mobile, you might be able to get away with the old free Embedded Visual C++ (eVC++) and Embedded Visual Basic (eVB) tools. I don't know how well they will work, and you probably won't be able to take advantage of the latest feat

I would advise against a PalmOS based device if you plan on doing development. The OS is outdated, and on its last legs. The iPhone OS, Windows Mobile, and the BlackBerry OS are all more modern and have better tools. Can't comment on Symbia

In my area, the BlackBerry plan is also $20. On HowardForums, people used the BlackBerry plans when the data plan got bumped up to $30. Unless you're grandfathered into the ancient $5.99 T-Zones plan, I don't think you will find a cheaper o

Err.. seemed kind of odd to throw out "unit conversion" as an example to discuss. Async programming is basically about doing other things when you would have been waiting for the result with a largely idle CPU (when you would otherwise be b

I'd try taking your MacBook to an Apple Store. The cracks are a known problem, and they may take care of you even if you're out of warranty (or maybe not).

The current system has two components: 1. the GSM tower based one ("accuracy" measured in miles) and 2. the Skyhook WIFI based. If the Skyhook one returns results, your "accuracy" will probably be within a hundred feet. If you want, you can

VMWare Server is free and allows you to create new VMs (and comes with the VM addons for various OSes). It allows you to start up VM at boot time, etc hence the "Server" name. The drawback is that it installs a bunch of services. Microsoft'

These are common in China. The card switch acts as a master on/off for most? of the outlets and lights (except for the fridge?). I forgot about it a couple of times when intending to charge my laptop while I was out.
