That's an interesting question. I dunno. It still is your laptop, and they are an unauthorized user. You should be able to log anything you want on your own system.

I'm curious how one writes software to link in as an exchange. I haven't read the Bitcoin code throughly, but I'm not sure if I understand how to initiate a transaction with the network. Is there anywhere that documents it well?

Is that the likely root of that fall? Any idea who/why someone is DDOSing them? And why they are so effective at it? Can't they just use Cloudfront which supposibly 'fixes' DDOS issues?

So.... AT&T can actually do this if they try and have competition threatening their ologopoly (which they and Comcast claim doesn't exist...)

Strange- I just pushed an STL file from a Lynx camera that was taken of me at SXSW and it won't view. Any ideas what's wrong? https://github.com/tibbon/my-3d-models/blob/master/me-in-3d....

Wouldn't the same logic follow though if someone agreed to turn off their file sharing and/or delete the files they downloaded? The MPAA/RIAA doesn't seem to be ok with that.

Whoa, I'm really shocked that the case essentially lost there several times. That's.... terrible. One of them because they "failed to register copyright in the US" according to the Wikipedia. I was under the impression that there was no rea

According to the MPAA, $1000/use would sound well within the range of real damages for any license misuse.

I agree that assuming the worst isn't the best idea- but I have to wonder how Disney's legal would react in the reverse situation? Would they assume the worst?

That's the state of things now- but in a year? More exchanges could appear. I don't see why they won't. Panic selling will only happen so many times before people stop freaking out over little things.

Yes, there will be (at some point) a downward force on the value of Bitcoin due to hoarding. But that will not be the only force. At some point, it will seem that its probably not going to rocket upward any more, and it might fall a little

I've gotta say, I haven't played with HTTPS sites all that much- does it mess up caching?

To be fair though, the games have changed in the Post-Halo world dramatically. The original Rainbow Six was actually our main LAN party game because it was so brutal, slow and tactical. We literally split up teams into different parts of th

This has been said again and again- the main thing that Coinbase needs to do right now is to get better about their communications with the public. Its understandable that a fast-growing startup in a new field, doing transaction-based work,

I often find myself between tech and art. Day job is mostly Rails consulting. Went to Berklee for Music Business Management (and plenty of guitar). I split my free time between technology stuff, and building functional art/music things at m

A month or two ago, I spent $100 on Bitcoins. I figured this was an acceptable amount to 'gamble' like I was in Vegas. Might go up, might go down- but I found the risk to be acceptable for the amount.

Yea, they did a killer job at SXSW this year getting in front of a lot of people and making real transactions. The hardware is great, but getting stuff into vendors is hard.

Thank you for creating the library. Sorry to have placed the blame on you for Coinbase's issues. The main thing they could do at this point would be incredibly transparent with their issues- like Heroku tries to do.

Demurrage (cost to hold currency) could help hoarding. However, at some point, people will start spending them too. There's a fork of Bitcoin which actually has this built in. I imagine we could see an interesting future with cryptocurrenci

Seems cool. Wouldn't mind seeing a Ruby one. But as another poster jokes about- it seems that being able to actually execute trades with Coinbase right now is a major issue. I tried to buy coins like 4 times a few weeks ago, and was unabl
