They announced their LAM AI as being able to navigate websites and apps by itself, and not needing any adjustments when the sites change or new sites are needed due to ML. Instead of that, they shipped a bunch of manually written playwright

Every token emitted is a full-pass through the network, with the prompts and previous tokens (sent by you and the AI) given as input. And I agree that there is certainly a capacity for reasoning, no matter how flawed it is. There is plenty

Ironically, the "stochastic parrot" could very likely put together a better argument than this ridiculous comparison with Prolog and 2011 tech. Sure, markov chains are also picking the next token, but so am I when writing this com

It does not do what it was purported to do though. It was supposed to have a built-in AI, including an AI to navigate websites that is just a bunch of manually written playwright scripts, and plenty of capabilities that are present in the m

This was actually a great explanation. Still delivering 15 years later. I wonder what other mathematical constructions are abstractions of burritos.

What's a "normal computing task" for you? I know a lot of poeple that don't own a computer nor feel a need to own one. They just use their phones for everything.

I have a similar setup to yours, but end up working (for my job, or for personal enjoyment) more than half the time on a single 14" screen, wherever (kitchen table, my couch, someone else's couch, outside, ...). For some kind of w

Unfortunately, and as much as I wish this wasn't true, it's not even close... Sure, macbooks look good, but it's not the looks that make them great laptops.

To be honest, I don't think you cant get a lot more generic than "Gemini". I can think of many things sharing that name that are more well known than a niche HTTP alternative...

They just need to get the equivalent amount of light into each sensor as your TV remote gets into your TV. I doubt it would get unsafe before rising the power by many orders of magnitude... Especially considering unshielded kW IR lamps ar

Where do you draw the line between accidents and natural causes? If one was to catch the wrong breath and get infected by a virus that eventually led to their death, would that be an accident or natural causes?

They will. We're talking of poeple that have no problem stopping a train in a busy station to completely paint it from one side to the other. They'll spray the dog, put a couple stickers on it, and run away.

Honestly, it's just paint, it has no direct victims. With most police departments understaffed and underfunded (at least where I live, Portugal), I would rather they focused on more serious problems.

Yes it's a similar thing, as mentioned in the article. The spectrogram is the frequency-domain, your wave file is the time domain.

Where do you draw the line? GPT2 was introduced as a LLM, and you can easily run it on more limited devices than a recent iPhone. Did it stop being an LLM when bigger models were released? Is llama 7B an LLM or an "SLM"?

Of course GPT 4, or even 3, are impossible to run on any consumer product. As far as I know it's an ensemble of several models which are huge by themselves, with enormous hardware requirements. But there's a lot of smaller LLMs, a

We all know what the ad is supposedly saying. But there's something called context. This add doesn't exist in isolation. In my view, is not offensive due to the destruction of the objects, but by the deeper meaning of crushing the
