Interviewing only with your eventual manager is massively inefficient. Imagine I'm a hiring manager with one headcount available. Let's say Google gets about 5000 applications per day and hires 50 people per day, so I need to inte

Yes. For example, the powerful "transducers" concept from Clojure essentially cannot be represented in the Haskell type system.

Don't suppose there's any chance of getting this working in Unity?

Maybe it depends on the domain. "Flow state" makes sense for something like a startup where single coders are writing huge diffs on their own. I work on a huge codebase where "figuring out what code to write" occupies dr

I prefer open offices. You get a pretty significant echo chamber effect on articles like this because people who don't like it turn out to comment. Personally, I have no difficulty with noise (I prefer working in coffee shops to at hom

Still no way to export structs or enum-ADTs to Objective C code, though. Really makes it hard to write idiomatic Swift APIs that can be called from Objective C.

The so-called Dutch Sandwich exists because the United States is the only country in the world to practice worldwide-basis taxation. In any other country, that income would not be taxable at all. Which is not to say that there are no issu

They haven't put out any updates since May, it seems. Do we have any idea if they're still going to manage to ship in "early 2015"?

Is this 20k+ number in the original data? I might be reading it wrong, but it kind of looks like the opposite correlation is there.

A lot of tools don't support them yet. Robovm in my case (I filed a bug against them, though), but also Cocoapods, for example.

Any word on whether they added static library support? Not having it is kind of a dealbreaker for my workflow, unfortunately.

So does Impact support WebGL now? Last time I checked it didn't & they had no plans to support it.

I think Closure Compiler integration is really important for Angular, since it has built-in support for the framework (it allows automatic injection based on parameter names). It also does really good minification and dead code elimination.

One nice thing about Firebase Hosting is that they're the only static site provider I could find that will render html in response to a POST request. When you make a Facebook Canvas app, they expect you to serve your site via POST. If

A standard Quicksort implementation is absolutely worst-case O(N^2). Variants do exist like median-of-medians quicksort or introsort, but I would never describe O(N^2) as wrong. In fact, I would be very happy if candidates knew the differen

Isn't it impossible to optimistically update the UI with this model? You need to wait for a server roundtrip before you can display the results. There are certainly cases where that's OK, but it can make an app feel a lot less sna

This is awesome. One of the problems I've had with Raphael is that it's explicitly not supposed to be an SVG library, so SVG-specific features tend to go unsupported. SVG groups are probably the most obvious example of this.

For an international audience, "The City" means London's financial district. This is the only use of the term sufficiently common to be mentioned on Wikipedia's article.
