I need to jump between different versions of terraform, terragrunt, python, ... all the time for work. asdf is an absolute asset and makes that so much easier. I can heavily recommend giving it a try! I've even embedded it into our def

I've been investigating several no-code tools because we need some internal tooling, where most of my team are not programmers, and I don't want to have a bus factor of 1 for this. I've so far been most impressed with directu

I've been using healthchecks.io for years now. Awesome tool. Small scope, does the things it intends to do really well. Can highly recommend. I'm surprised that the machines are that large, there must be a bunch of people using th

Absolutely. The thing that this allows (and the companies that inspired this stuff, e.g. GitPod) is to codify your development environment - similarly to what has been happening in the infrastructure world. And I'm not talking about ed

I've used Scribus several times for album cover/booklet stuff. Worked really great, my biggest complaint is the inability to reduce transparencies. Almost all print shops expect you to deliver PDF 1.3, with reduced transparencies.

That's not entirely correct. For example, at the University of Münster you do need to pay a semester fee ("Semesterbeitrag"). Granted, this will get you a ticket for all public transport (except IC/ICE) within northrine-

Yep, all our EdgeDNS zones as well as DSD edgekeys are just returning SERVFAILS. Many big german websites are down right now.

GoDaddy is the worst company, ever. I once registered a domain there and had to cancel it three times. Two times out of those, they silently reverted my cancelation and just kept renewing it against my will. I don't care if this was ma

Soo many questions. Why is this not a firmware addition? Why is this windows only? Why the ILCE-5100, but not the ILCE-6000 which is _super_ popular? Why is the PlayMemories App stuff still a unusable mess? Sorry, was maybe a nice idea in t

Had to try out Teams at work recently, because the corporate IT wants us to switch over from Slack. I'm working in operations for a daughter company of corporate IT. Tried it. It's a joke compared to Slack. Horrible UI and calls d

If you can only install an app without hassle with Docker, it's a really bad sign. I'm not against Docker, I run a whole cluster of Docker hosts as my job, but touting it as a solution to a hard install for a _php app_ is crazy. B

Would have loved to try this (I know hundreds of people, but I only interact with them every few months), but this is unnecessarily hard to install. I would have to change my webserver config just to run this, which seems really strange for

The Django toolbar pops up when I open your site. That's an indicator for me that I don't really want to work with your service.

This is what the world needs. Seriously, I hate this trend to bloat up websites with the rage of a thousand suns. There is absolutely no value, but it increases bandwith usage, load times and CPU/RAM usage. News websites having "f

If you're looking for a more end-to-end solution, suitable for lecture/event recording, processing and distribution with a more permissive license, you might want to checkout http://www.opencast.org as well.
