Its a terrible system. If we assume that the financial sector is good for society, then a productive element of it is idling causing inefficiencies leading to higher fees. If the assumption is incorrect, then the financial sector is not a p

Btw, all these analysis are valid for EV cars too. EV cars are terrible for CO2 emissions. because their battery packs are too big.

Well, what can I say? Do the math! One EV truck = x amount of batteries. Per the article, 700kWh One F150 hybrid [1] = y amount of batteries. Per Ford, 1.5 kWh [2] One EV truck = x/y F150 hybrids, or 500 pickup trucks. 500 hybrids pic

I knew one guy who was working for a company that did that. Bit it's not an ideal use of batteries. Semis avoid cities, they avoid stop and go. Long cruises negate the hybrid advantage. Where hybrids shine are in heavy vehicles that do

This is about large battery powered EVs, not grid powered ones. Also, it doesnt matter if you can swap a battery, or charge a fixed one in a microsecond. the problem is the opportunity cost of using a lot of battery to electrify one vehicl

Which problem? Please be more clear, more specific instead of using slogans. As I understand you want to cut emissions, reduce it to zero. Fine. EV vehicles generally, and EV semis in particular, are a massive impediment to the rapid decarb

Even if I concede your premise that our pressing need to decarburize, I am not clear what it is you are proposing. Surely not fast EV adoption! I specifically point out that rapid adoption of EVs at the expense of hybrids given limited batt

Not quite. otto cycle is most efficient at full throttle due to throttle valve pump losses. Diesels are most thermodynamically efficient at low throttle because it takes time to combust the fuel. During this time the piston expands and the

Batteries on semis dont make much sense to me. Hybrid systems on heavy inner city vehicles make a lot of sense. As do hybrids in mountainous areas. But long distance hauling? BS. Semi engines are large with very low power to displacement ra

Diamond and gold are far from useless. Quite the contrary, they're way both too expensive to use in applications where they'd be ideal. Copper is used as cheap gold Mica is used as cheap diamond.

My guess: Recording equipment tended to be large and media expensive. There was magnetic wire recording technology, which was relatively compact, but the amps still needed tubes and the machine hardly concealable.

Americans abroad shouldn't pay taxes (since they get basically no benefits) or vote (why should those who live abroad affect the laws they are, largely, not subject to?) Canada's rules are like that and I like it!

That brings up very interesting questions: To which state would one owe taxes to since you're no linger a resident? Similarly, Americans abroad vote, but ppl in DC (not a state) cant? Can I avoid state taxes by sojourning in DC before

Why all electric? Your plan seems big enough that you'll have multiple outdoor units. Why not have a gas furnace instead of two heat pumps? If the power goes out for an extended period of time (not improbable in the NE) a furnace will

You can get units that look like registers, especially if you have attic access. Mitsubishi has them. The only problem with them is that the installer has to do a good job with the condensate line (for when you run the AC)

Simple in the sense that high school chemistry/math is all you really need + definition of COP. Its a few steps. 1. You need to get your pump's COP vs T from the manufacturer. This is the hardest part. 2. Now find out what chemis
