Hmm. Sometimes I step back and I look at the version history in modern Office documents and it does feel convenient. I like the CRDT editing a lot. It still feels too loose and prone to issues, but I recognize its value to the average pe

Admittedly, if there's any chance to this I think it will start with tech-savvy assistants helping to preserve documents on the backend of things. When a process takes hold budgets usually get restructured and a dedicated application

Thank you for sharing this. I had no idea it existed! I was getting pandoc cleared at my work, but for the Windows environment that it is, this is another solution :)

Okay. Agree entirely. I love some of the collaborative nature of Microsoft Teams and CRDT editing Word/Excel, but I'm usually pretty remote. Text over a tenuous WAN connection is ideal. I work at a government agency and I was &#

I think it's going to be important to recognize and block javascript/wasm by the bytecode it compiles down to. As far as I know we don't have this ability to "jump into" the process. ublock or umatrix can't b

We tend to think investors love to chase clouds. These ideas have existed for a long time, and making them a reality - of course - isn't easy. I tend to believe an investor is looking at how good a company can sell the idea to consum

I will continue using Firefox because of tab containers, and the Temporary Containers extension. Nothing in Chrome comes close to that, even with extensions like it. It's not total privacy, but it's something every browser shoul

I've always wanted an application dedicated to managing the clipboard. It would provide security and even offer interchange conversion that existing apps do not implement. For example: Copying HTML in Windows it has an associated mi

Just added myself for notification when their kickstarter begins (Simula). I wish they went with an AMD APU, instead of Intel Xe graphics. The youtube gameplay comparisons seem to give AMD a big edge in well... everything. I'll defi

Occasionally I see websites take issue with a odd number of ' because it's creating a SQL statement, and inserting my message/posting in a table within a database.

New conspiracy theory: Do all authentication through a private, 3rd party company that isn't beholden to the same restrictions of a government agency. Things like creating a video for facial recognition. Create databases that should

In Denmark they actually issue their citizens little RSA tokens for use authenticating into government websites. Of course, there are issues sometimes with desynced tokens but I wish our government took things that seriously.

The economy did look good under Trump, except when he got on Twitter and started commenting. Did we forget he flirted with a war in Syria? Each time he mouthed off it caused market uncertainty and this was before we even got to covid. He

I think in normal times this is true. Bare with me, this is all disorganized: The last President, and the comments he made, have 3 times lost me over $100k in value from the investments I hold. It's like just waiting to recover from i

I understand what you're saying, but I'm seeking a very particular setup. Currently you cannot get a VM/guest to exclusively control the display panel of a laptop. You can get it to take exclusive control of a GPU, even an

Yes, but I don't consider that easier to maintain. The appeal of a dockerfile or k8s manifest means I can expect some degree of isolation, and easily distribute that experience to others. Getting something to run in Cube OS is more o

It feels like we're late to create the desktop experience where most things run in containers. My wish is to run something like Proxmox as a "stable base", and within it have a VM for my firewall (pfsense), my primary Linux O

You're handing graphviz a list of relationships. Sometimes you know the ideal way to visualize this is a tree, or something with right angles, but graphviz isn't laying it out that neatly. So you create extra nodes, and edges to

I just wanted to say I appreciated this comment. You clearly condensed what the problem is, and now I feel like I better understand the situation. It does sound like hypocrisy but in an unworkable, non-starting situation for the FSF. (Bra

My graphviz-fu got so much better when I started using invisible objects for the grid-like layouts. At that point you're just using graphviz for positioning/spacing/styling instead of creating the overall topology.

I did contradict myself there. Running some games in a VM within VMware or Virtualbox is detected as such. Running a game in a qemu VM there are some options available to hide that the hardware is within a VM - like how the CPU identifies

The real gem is this extension: Temporary Containers https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/temporary-con... Basically every new tab is a new temporary container. Isolation all the time, by default.

My absolute wish is to run Proxmox on a laptop and have a VM drive the laptop display. Currently this is not possible. There are many guides on passing through the integrated or dedicated GPU, but NOT using the laptop display in a guest VM.
