The linked blog post literally just says "reads". The word "rows" does not appear in the blog post! You have to click through, yes it's clear once you do, but i'd say it's a valid complaint about the blog

Disagree, GP's expectations are perfectly reasonable Their pricing page starts out by saying "Transparent pricing you can understand"! I shouldn't have to read a several thousand word FAQ, and then still come away wonder

You're mixing up I/O-based pricing with rows-based pricing. Aurora is priced based on I/O operations, with 16KB pages: https://aws.amazon.com/rds/aurora/faqs/ If you're doing a range scan

I came to the same conclusion. At my job I learned that one of the important disclosures in his leaked documents wasn't true, it simply did not exist and there was no possible way for it to exist, pretty conclusively*. While this doesn

I fully agree with GP, my experiences with Chase have been quite poor even in the NYC region. Ahead of buying a home in ~2015, I was holding a lot of cash, and Chase upgraded me to Chase Private Client. Seemed good at the time, perks like f

Clearly I didn't explain my point very well. I'm responding specifically to the author's throwing shade on big tech's focus on profits. He mentions this five times : * "It was all about one thing… MONEY!" * &q

I wasn't implying they're big tech, or tech at all. I'm saying it's hypocritical because BoA is a big company that just wants to make money, and sometimes does horrible things [1][2]. Yet the author lobs profanities at t

Among other blatantly offensive things, he directly said "If I were a Jew I would be concerned about my insatiable appetite for war and killing in defense of myself." Certainly sounds to me like he's attributing these actions

I'm Jewish, and I personally found the post to be offensive and anti-semitic. Israel is not my "homeland". I've never been to Israel, let alone lived there. My parents have never been to Israel. You'd have to go bac

Parents can be profoundly weird about this sort of thing. I've had a couple meaningful equity events -- not as large as OP's but same order of magnitude in combination -- and have discussed this with my parents several times over

A couple of months ago, in a public chatroom for DBAs, one of GitLab's engineering leads made some very insulting comments about Facebook engineers & eng practices. Pretty ironic. I want to feel bad for GibLab, but it's really

I can't verify this, but I was told that the lead investor is Peter Thiel / Founders Fund. Seems believable, since it's consistent with his investment thesis.
