What do you think about evolving the stored procedures into a stateless GRPC service that fronts the database? For the price of 1 (or 2) additional network hop, you get much better devx, while keeping most of the benefits provided by stored

Don't share atomics among threads. For example, envoy proxy mostly doesn't share atomics among threads, and can scale nicely on arm64 without requiring the atomic extensions.

Good info. After reading this, I bought an Orange Pi 5 with 8GB of RAM, and now it is up and running with Ubuntu 22.04. The spec seems to be similar to a c6g.xlarge.

I just learnt about "ip route change ROUTE quickack 1" from https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10662061 , so we don't even need to patch the kernel. This makes 2b a really attractive option.

I have seen the "data service" design pattern that tries to work around this, by having a CRUD microservice to front a database, providing hundreds of APIs to read/write the data for 50 other microservices. If one of these CR

That's a very smart solution indeed. I wonder if it is also possible to throw more memory at the problem? Managing instances with locally attached disks on the cloud is a bit of a pain, as you don't have the capability to stop

So, what do you think of terraform? It's puzzling to me that we, as software developers, spend so much efforts trying to automate such one off deletion tasks, and the automation would inevitably go wrong and result in data loss.
