CPython is written in C, did running it on Risc-V take more than a recompilation? Were there any surprises? Yes of course it needs testing and RISC-V in the CI stack, but I'd expect fairly smooth sailing.

I would also like to see manageable amounts of update traffic. In the old days I had De Lorme street maps of the whole US. It was sold on a CD-ROM so the whole dataset was at most 700MB. It didn't have updates. I also have paper ma

I have the 2023 5G Stylus and it's great, has almost everything I want in a phone. It's now even supported by LineageOS though I haven't switched over. Something like it with Graphene would be fantastic.

What did they do with i.reddit.com? That still works for me too as far as I know. But as long as I remember, it's needed some awful looking session identifier.

It still works for me. Maybe they are still rolling out the change.

Interesting. I wonder if there has also been any recent progress on the Legendre constant. Kidding.

BASIC was higher level (or anyway, more batteries-included) than C. You could probably do this game in 131 lines of javascript straightforwardly.

You can rely on it now in gcc and clang, in the sense that they support a [[musttail]] attribute that tells the compiler to report an error if a call can't be TCO'd. The language doesn't guarantee TCO but can implement it at

GCC has had TCO since the 1980s I'm pretty sure. Since then it's been extended to work in more contexts.

I remember someone writing a rant against having the list in firmware and managed automatically by the drive. If the list was on the host side, your software could route around the bad sectors and minimize the total amount of seek time dur

Robert Silverberg's novel "Shadrach In The Furnace", published in the 1970s, had a mention of some data being transported on a "billion-bit bubble chip". In retrospect, that's entertaining in 3 ways: 1) bubble

Article describes try/finally as a hack to get the effect of defer, but it looks to me like it's the other way around? Try/finally is more traditional, in one form or another.

Why does this exist? Is something wrong with MicroPython? Even if it's somehow better, why is MicroPython not even mentioned in the github page? Why does the feature matrix not say anything about coroutines, async def syntax, etc?
