The average American has never been materially wealthier. Even the poorest Americans that are housed have a fridge, a TV, a cell phone, many have a car (or two) and a majority of Americans own their own home/condo.

That’s just conspiracy nonsense, why would they bother with EVs and not just ban gas cars altogether then?

On a long enough time horizon those that won’t drive electric won’t be driving. It’ll just cost us all a ton more the longer we wait to transition.

This seems like a problem with a lot of places now, not just rental cars. Employees just don’t give a shit anymore, if anything they hate their jobs and customers.

Work for a terrible engineering organization (public, private, doesn’t matter) and you’ll understand. Especially where technical leadership can’t rely on engineers to do anything but code with very strict guardrails.

I’ll never understand why developers there make less than the US. It’s not like they aren’t providing similar scale/leverage to a business.

Why does this guy keep getting so much attention on Hacker News? Isn’t this the same guy that tried to shame MKBHD (an actual small business owner/founder)? He’s clearly just engagement farming, probably for his “course”.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received $226 million in total compensation in 2022. That’s enough to give over 22 thousand 40 hour a week employees a $5/hour wage increase. Instead they’re lowering pay via eliminating a minimum wage. Like
