I think you’re talking about the gofast video which is not the tictac or “flir” video from 2004. Gofast and gimbal were from 2014 and 2015.

I look forward to watching anti-natalists and nihilists remove themselves from the gene pool. We don’t need your death cult bullshit.

The leaked info is that there is no evidence for or against it being aliens and that it is not a domestic asset. I don’t think foreign assets have been completely ruled out but we’d better hope that’s not the explanation.

Well that’s two. Some people think the rotation in the gimbal video might be caused by image stabilization but that doesn’t explain the object itself or the commentary about there being a fleet of them. The cockpit photos are also unexplain

YouTube is the most accessible place for content like this. They may be running the site into the ground lately but the initial implementation of a site that allows easy uploading, sharing and discovery of video content still has a lot of m

Nv Neurons are easy to breadboard if you buy the specified chip, that’sa good starting point for experimenting with this design since you can hook up some LEDs to see the alternating activation. Hooking up motors and sensors will be more co

I don’t think the argument in this thread is to shut it down. It’s that more manufacturing should be done domestically. Offshoring manufacturing allowed us to revive those sweatshops after unions and regulations had done away with them and

Maybe starship will be ready with orbital refueling in time to make a faster trip. Imagine being able to do a sample return mission from such an object.

The government should also invest its capital in the projects that it believes will benefit the country. The people should have a say in the matter, they’re technically the investors after all.

My optimistic take is that advanced civilizations capable of travelling the galaxy don’t spend their time hanging around planets and stars for the same reason we no longer hang around caves and fire started by lightning. They’ve mastered fu

Yes, thank you, that’s essentially what I’m arguing against. There’s no reason galactic civilizations should continually progress especially when each settled system is effectively cut off from its parent by light years of distance.

Yes my point is that each system colonized becomes its own independent case subject to destroying itself or regressing or becoming antagonistic towards its parent civilization. Think back pressure or resistance. The question I’m asking is a

Change the “upload filter” to “total upload filter” smaller chance but still relevant. Also it was a silly sci-fi example, I’m sure sufficiently advanced societies can think up better forms of planetary dead ends.

Flying land mines can be equally indiscriminate. Especially if you set the targeting to an ethnic group. These are explosives so they won’t always kill their target, they’ll do a lot of maiming and anyone standing near the target will be on

I’m not a fan of galactic settlement simulations mostly because I think they simulate the wrong thing which is rate of diffusion. This treats the civilization as a static thing that simply spreads out at the edges. Compared to the history o

My counter argument is that humans are more wasteful when faced with abundance. Look at what we did when we discovered two continents worth of land. When perceived costs are low, waste is high.
