This, it’s really exhausting to read this never ending wheel reinvention. Sure any one can use simpler non-spring frameworks, and other “non standard” frameworks and libraries for 1/10 or 1/100 of the functionality, and get 10-100

It’s amazing to me when anyone who is even familiar with ML can entertain ideas like the above. Is it the result of “library glue” experience with little basic knowledge? I’m genuinely curious how this comes about. It seems lack of basic un

This is basically how I did it. Max for me was three jobs. I started pre pandemic. I was thoroughly burned out after five years. Took a break before getting back in. I could retire, but keep working for healthcare and the lulz. (One job) Th

Hopefully for their RSU awardees the leadership team doesn't hire a bunch of sales/marketing types, thereby increasing operating costs, and tank the stock price. Mostly the market expects to see continued organic growth in these t

I've been a "bad faith actor" and I will again if I have the chance. As a development manager I have taken credit for the work of others and exploited multiple companies for my own gain. I personally believe it's foolish

A recent comment from reddit: This year I became a co-owner of the company that worked at for the past three years. It's a small development and consulting company and we're currently struggling to find new developers. At the same

If they get your work done, don't worry about it. If on they other hand you don't know what the work is you want done, and expect a developer to come in and do it all, don't worry. We moonlighting devs won't even apply f

I'd disagree progress becomes impossible, for the simple reason at this point rules and processes start getting bypassed or skipped altogether. I once had a role in management at a mid size software company. The company was quite stodg

This is why I work multiple remote development jobs. If one traditional job is good, > 1 is better. It would take a quite a successful SaaS to pull down what I do annually.

These options exist to varying degrees. There can be many obstacles to migrations. Very few of these systems can be untangled to migrate a bit at a time though.

I did, my first job out of college was mainframe cobol at a bank in 2002. It was a huge mistake. The mainframe apps were a cost center the company sought to minimize. Salaries were low, raises were zero to 3%, no bonuses. It was a dead end
