Isn't the Linux gaming stuff really an emulator for Windows games? So it'd be like, windows emulation inside Linux virtualization inside macos?

The columns feature seems somewhat dangerous at first glance. What if I wanted different sets of allowed columns for different parts of the query? Would I have to provide the superset of columns supported in both subqueries / tables?

Are you gonna clarify at all how this is relevant to the original article...?

Aren't you describing docker-out-of-docker rather than docker-in-docker?

There's definitely something wrong with the scroll performance. I'm seeing bad performance as well on a pixel 8 pro. If I weren't on mobile I'd pop open devtools and check for excessive layout recalculations

One thing not mentioned is the massive amount of complexity and difficulty involved in Starlark rules. In the next generation of build tools, I really wish Starlark could be replaced with some subset of TypeScript, which would have drastica

I don't get it. The pool uses weak pointers under the hood right? If you allocate too much up front, the stuff you don't need will get garbage collected. It's no worse than doing the same without a pool, right?

If you're regularly kicking yourself, don't you have your own examples to draw from? Only half-joking.

help() should not have to re-teach you the syntax of the language every time you look up an individual help topic, though. Even though this "/" stuff is uncommonly used, it seems like it should have its own help topic. Otherw

How would you recommend learning about eBPF / BTF / CO-RE? I have a basic understanding of what they are, but am not sure where to start for writing eBPF tracing programs, setting them up in production w/ Grafana, etc.

I think I like this new pipe syntax a lot better than PRQL. Feels like it has the potential to become officially supported by DBs like MySQL since it's a relatively small change to existing SQL syntax.

It would be cool if you added a Wikipedia link for each of these. I find myself wanting to learn more about some of them

The article was specifically asking for concentric rings with equally spaced points - how would you fix the seed such that this property is held?

Wouldn't a fixed seed mean you're repeating values a bunch, which would be inefficient? And how would you know when to stop generating values?

Google has massive amounts of code written in Java so one would think the Java tooling would be excellent as well.

Something is still not right for me. The scrolling is extremely janky. I'm on mobile so can't check devtools right now, but I would open up Chrome's Rendering tab in devtools and check for excessive layout recalculations and

I bet it's working as intended. The $ symbol is probably a special feature of the console and is not intended to be a property of window. Inside setInterval, the function is no longer being executed in the special console environment,

This behavior seems difficult to actually implement in practice, no? Your application has to be careful not to accidentally cache any configuration state, as well as any state derived from the configuration, otherwise it will go out of sy

It's not trying to fix Go, it's trying to be a new programming language. It just happens to compile to Go, and allows Go interop.

I like to use pv as a quick and dirty operations per second counter. Sometimes I will write a program or script that does a bunch of things in parallel (e.g. RPCs to a service I'm working on), and prints one line of output for every op

The problems you're describing sound rather niche - I can see how a deadlock or a 100% CPU issue could happen, but the biggest problem in my experience is the resource usage associated with the file watches, at least on Linux.
