The only real improvements I'd suggest is switching back to NVIDIA across their entire product line and offering 32 and 64GB in MBP. I kind of struggle to think what else they could improve. Do you have any concrete suggestions? I do a

The best ab exercise that I have found is a heavy ass deadlift. Barbell squats are good too. They actually train _core strength_ rather than just abs, which is what you need. The advice is: start with compound barbell exercises like squat a

That's not the exact opposite experience, that's just stupid. You have to work up to the weight. If I walk into the gym and try lifting my PR while cold, I will almost certainly fuck up my back. That's why coaches make so muc

Of course. For endurance I got into the habit of doing daily HIIT cardio. Instead of "Netflix and chill" it's Netflix and cardio for me. Pro tip to those who would like to get into the habit: pick a tv show and only watch it

I had really bad lower back pain years ago. Started going to the gym and doing weight training. Went from not being able to deadlift 80 lbs without pain to 495lbs for 3 reps. No back pain now. I also recommend "Starting Strength"

I think he meant to say "two unsuccessful attempts". Who knows how many attempts were actually successful. I sometimes wonder what percentage of e.g. Facebook, Google, Microsoft etc are covert NSA/CIA agents. I'd be will

We're not talking that kind of price differential. A factor of 5x at most, with worse specific impulse than the Russian engines from the 90s. I get it, Elon is the second coming of Steve Jobs for many, and it is admirable that he'

It's not worthless, per se, it's just not a precursor to AGI in any shape or form, no matter how much the researchers pretend otherwise.

It wasn't because it was impossible. Shit, those guys landed on the Moon and Venus with nothing but slide rules. It was because government is not spending its own money, so it can afford five times the cost.

SpaceX is doing more or less the things that have already been done 50 years ago by truly the best minds of that generation, except they're cheaper and run as a private enterprise. They're standing way up there on the shoulders of

The whole field of NLP and computational linguistics reminds me of that joke where a drunk is looking for his keys under a street lamp instead of where he actually lost them. This is true in particular of anything that pertains to reasoning

Oh no, it's not simplistic. I actually worked on it at Google for a few years. The backends are actually quite impressive and Rube Goldberg like. It's just not what starry eyed fresh grads want to do when they join, and it's

The economy will be fine. Maybe even better than before. People will just figure out how to charge for content on the internet, and everyone will be all right.

No, they could not "adapt". Ballmer's "one trick pony" comment is as true today as it was years ago. They derive the vast majority (90%+ iirc) of their revenue from ads. If ads are fucked, Google will be fucked too.

Google has a bunch of "PR" projects whose sole purpose is to distract the public, their own employees, and, importantly, potential employees from the fact that they're 95% an advertising company. Where would you rather work,

Bloomberg has something better, as far as narrative peddling is concerned: it is perceived as reputable.
