Given the horrible GPU performance as well as thermal issues in Tensor G5 and G6, Google will have to switch back to Arm in G7. Example benchmark showing how extremely far Google is behind: GeekBench 6 Compute Score (GPU): Xring O

I think tech enthusiasts like thinkpads for the same reason they dislike macbooks: out of the box linux support, good ergonomics and repairability. Do thinkpad owners care about battery life? Yes, but once you are past a full work day batte

They do. I dont understand why EU is not stepping in. LG literally spies on you by capturing screenshot of whatever you watch and send them to the mothership. This includes images and videos from your private USB drive.

I dont know. Does your Linux distribution immediately upgrade to the latest kernel when Linus releases a new one? Besides, the phone software is highly optimised for the specific hardware. It is not a generic software like Windows

I belive you are mistaken. Android 17 final was "released" 6-7 weeks ago. But Google being Google, this release is pretty much useless until Samsung et al deal with all bugs and performance issues, which will take 2-4 months.

The cybersecurity version is here: https://huggingface.co/dealignai/GLM-5.3-CYBERSECURITY-FP8 Not sure how it stacks up against mythos and Gemini cyber but unlike those this one I can actually use...

Why gather this much data if you are not monetizeing it? It has a cost and can also become a liability. You don't do it just for fun.

"available to trusted defenders through our new Fairwind Program" Then why even bother announcing this? Ordinary people can use K3 and GLM 5.3 or whatever drops next and avoid all this hassle.

From an economical and political point of view this is actually interesting. The free market in EU caused the high electricity prices in Germany to be partially transferred to Swedish consumers, despite Sweden being a net exporter. From a p

What is going on? Why are everyone except OpenAI short on compute? Even Chinese ultra cheap providers are slowly reducing token plans or increasing prices.

Theo is a very insightful guy, but also very opinionated. I think the truth is somewhere in between. Especially as more and more virtualization functions move into hardware, not using them as a second security barrier seems foolish.

Short answer: no Long answer: some dude on youtube calculated that even if electricity was free it would take you 37 years to get back your investment. Slightly longer answer: ... but if you absolutely must have local LLM, a GPU with 24-34

BYD is becoming crazy good at execution. But I think they also do rigorous planing years in advance. The Chinese EV movement started actually 10-20 years ago.

Everyone is free to work on whatever they want, but... I wish the amount of time and brain power spent on this project was instead used to work on something more friendly to the Linux community. For example to improve Strix Halo GPU and NPU
