Why not have efficient law and just sue large sums out of misbehaving manufacturers? Then you no longer punish the innocent.

Didn't it all start with what France accuses Wagner to be doing? Invasion of Ukraine happened maybe 50 years later than "evil plottrrs in movies" so only the former could cause the latter but not vice versa.

For all the critique that can be, Oxxxymiron is, like, the last big name in Russian music.

I'm not sure if you meant it or not - people around me use 'cultural enrichment' when they discuss ethnic crime, and not in a good way.

You could simulate which penalty they have to pay for leaving an apartment vacant to get any desired lower vacancy rate.

It is certainly not vacuum. Vacuum is when a gas particle is more likely to hit a wall (or other solid object) than other gas particle. It is absolutely not so on the edge of solar system, where low density is compensated by the vastness of

So we get less random censorship, and the downside is that the most toxic place on the Internet might go dark. Heads we win, tail they lose.

"Pandem" is still not translated into English in 2023. A great book about singularity and the most important that I have ever read.

In 2023 I would expect at least a Brainfuck FPGA. Wouldn't be that hard to do. I bed somebody did that.

Why? It's just a large chunk of the matter in the crust of Earth previously went through a neutron star/supernova.

The whole idea of welfare-driven society is nuts and untenable. Welfare-driven countries should deleverage their economies and depromote price growth until they no longer need to pay welfare on mass scale due to people being able to afford

Data structures, low-level workings of CPU and other hardware, computational compexities, binary algebra, combinatorics and discrete maths. Throw in some logic circuits design. The same things they ask on FAANG interviews, coincidentally.

Traditional CS is not in vogue at ex-USSR universities. Poring over type systems and pure functions just never caught up over here, compared to good old Knuth-worth "close to metal" CS. Some SDEs do take interest in these topics i

This is weird how in just 15 years Korea has turned from the most Internet-enabled country and into this backwards state. That happened to Japan on even earlier timeframe and I wonder if China will follow that path - whether we are seeing t

Obviously, only a very tiny proportion of that power is spent towards making the clays that we needed. We could spend a fraction of what we have and still outdo Earth by orders of magnitude.

by thriftwy 3y ago
Power is not the same as energy obviously, but otherwise it is the rate at which the thermal energy is spent.

When I was growing up, my granddad had a row of a weird black raspberry. It had huge, berries with a distinct taste, and all the assorted insects always present on other raspberries never showed up on these ones. They also never got moldy.

I remember when rolling out Yandex.Music (a similar streaming service) in 2010 we had maybe a dozen developers rounding way up, a half dozen strong BizRel team, perhaps three DevOps and a few managers. Totalling around 30 people, though doz

I believe this was true throughout almost all history, and 20th century was a fluke where a lot of people lost what they could inherit, and other lots of people made their capital from hard work.

You have just proved the opposite. For a 100 lines program, you will never even know whether it will terminate or not, and what would be the result of computation. Free will is the complete opaqueness of the thought process to you, where th
