I have the Azul JDK working but I haven't really done much with it. Been side-tracked by ffmpeg, QEmu and SimpleVM. But I plan to do some testing soon.

Not who you responded to but in my personal experience it is about 80% of what I've tried to build. I mostly had trouble with VideoLan x264 (but oddly not x265).

MacPorts is working pretty well. About 80% in my testing. I've been able to work around anything that doesn't build. It seems much further along than HomeBrew.

Virtualization and Docker are both well on their way. You can download working VM systems both very simple to the complex with QEmu. A Docker engineer announced on Twitter that he had a early (pre-alpha) version of Docker working on the M1.

I've been using MacPorts instead of Homebrew. It seems further ahead on the Darwin AArch64 transition. About 80% of things that I've tried have worked without trouble. Unfortunately, ffmpeg wasn't one of them. I got that work

This has been misreported. The RAM is on the same chip carrier as the SoC but not built into the same silicon die. The memory bandwidth is reportedly ~68 GB/s which is good but not exceptional.

Brew is claiming otherwise. https://github.com/Homebrew/brew/issues/7857 I've had more success using MacPorts ( https://macports.org ). About 80% of what I've tried has worked. Most things

The M1 Air is cool as a cucumber. I've tried everything in my power to heat it up, nothing works. The closest I've gotten is slightly warm when running the Cinebench benchmark.

No. This has been misreported. The RAM is on the same package but not part of the same silicon die. Basically the SoC is mounted next to the RAM on a carrier.

It's interesting that right now, MacPorts is further along the M1/Apple Silicon porting process than Homebrew. I think this is because Homebrew tries to do everything from a binary repository and MacPorts downloads source, patches

There seems to be only one public test of the Macmini9,1. Sometimes GeekBench is not accurate on the clock speeds. Take the clock speed with a little skepticism until more results are posted. I can't see why the system with the best co

David Fravor is the most credible eyewitness to a UFO that I’ve ever heard. There is no reason that I can come up with why anyone listening to his account should doubt what he saw. The interview is long but the whole thing is worth a listen

Since this is a recent release from the house investigation, I'm not sure if it should be marked 2015 or not. But it was sent in 2015. I also wonder if it had any affect. If anyone knows more details, that would be great to hear.

I’m 57. I have no recollection of learning to read. Somewhere between 5 and 8 it became second nature. How strange. I never really thought about it.

I’m pretty sure Apple is using the latest 4-core 10th Gen CPUs. Unless the Dell is using a 6 core chip, it is unlikely that their CPU is better. The top end is the Core i7-1068NG7 and the i5 is the Core i5-1038NG7. They are both 28W parts w

I eventually got to one that I could answer. The answer was awk as an alternative to sed. But I had to look through at least five until I found one that I even understood the question/riddle.

"if I could go back to the pre-split-screen, pre-drag-and-drop interface I would. Which is to say, now that iPadOS has its own name, I wish I could install the iPhone’s one-app-on-screen-at-a-time, no-drag-and-drop iOS on my iPad Pro.

It's part of the Finder now. Same UI (and probably code) just doesn't come as part of a monolithic application (but now part of a even more monolithic OS).
