Why JavaScript, out of all languages in the world? I don’t think that’s a particularly great choice.

I'm very curious as to where you got that statistic. I understand that we programmers are often very resistant to change, but there's nothing inherently wrong with using something new. If someone feels the benefits are worth the l

Agreed, I actually really like C++ nowadays. I usually tinker with compilers in higher-level languages, but my current project I'm using LibJIT, and wanted to go all-native. I've had a blast with OOP in C++, believe it or not, and

No, NPM does not have a GPG signing. There was once a PR open, but it was rejected after sitting idle for over a year. Yes, you read that right. https://github.com/npm/npm/pull/4016#issuecomment-76316744

I agree with this, and in reference to the prior comment, yes, I’ve seen the issue in question and read it, I even commented on it a few days ago. IMO the benefits of something like JSX really don’t make as much sense in Flutter. For me, th

This page slapped me in the face... But in a good way. I’m not much of a designer, so I wonder what the main differences between “minimalism” and “brutalism” are. To me, I’m ok with sites running analytics and an ad or two, so long as I can

The "new" and "const" are optional now, as many people requested it, since it creates a lot of extra noise. I too would appreciate a naming convention; that would make things a lot easier.

At this point in time, there's no support for NNBD, though people within the Dart team have proposed it. I can't speak on their behalf, though, as you can imagine.

The point of this article wasn't self-promotion at all, and I certainly mentioned the similarities between Flutter and React. The point is to highlight the differences, and that when using Flutter, you need to keep said differences in

I could have worded it better, but my point in that sentence was that React targets the DOM. Overall, the goal of the article isn't to say that React or Flutter is better than the other, it's specifically to say that to be effecti

In case anyone else was wondering, you actually CAN do this and JIT WASM in your browser via Binaryen: https://github.com/WebAssembly/binaryen/blob/master/test/bin...

One thing that would be super nice, in theory, would be compiling WASM modules on-the-fly from the text format. In a sense, it would be like a JIT for the Web, and one possibility for bringing existing JIT-based languages to WASM.

While I don't necessarily think writing a spec for package.json is a "horrible idea," I definitely think it's far, far too late to even bothering starting one now. package.json is in use in so many places, with so many d

Well, I mean, considering the fact that React Native came out long before Flutter was released, it would be very surprising if Flutter superseded the amount of downloads already.

I wouldn’t really say this is any more “codeless” than HTML, SQL, or Prolog, because you’re stilling writing unit tests, but in YAML instead of an imperative language like JavaScript. I think the word you’re _really_ looking for is “declara

Dart VM != Dart server in this case. The focus of Dart 2 and beyond is the client side [0]. You can definitely run Dart in the VM, but beyond the HttpServer API, server-side support is mostly a community effort. My point isn't that thi
