I heard about this years ago, but it seems very strange what you can get away with as a massive megacorp! When I was in Peru everyone chewed Coca leaves on the backpacker scene, and many of the locals, but no one ever offered me cocaine.

Yes, this is a major plus point about LLMs which you can ask really stupid questions about things you know nothing about and get a starting point. I'm doing this with Bard all the time.

Most recruiters use Linkedin as a primary tool though and I've had several real jobs offered on a plate through IMs on there, including my current role. In the UK at least this seems the easiest way to go.

Have kids or get a hobby. I'm in the same boat tbh, I don't find interesting things with programming anymore, maybe when I did it was just that I had less other stuff to do. I'd rather learn something new now e.g. last year I

I guess the problem was more that the guy was a jerk or not willing to learn. I do remember a C++ guy who would only ever do stuff in text files refusing to use a database which was ok up to a point, until it wasn't. What I meant was t

If you have friends or other people in your organisation that can help, consider choosing the language they use. Otherwise choose a general purpose language that has a longish history. I would say Python, JS/Node, C# would all be reaso

I've worked with a few programmes in Fortran 77 and Basic which I think were from the early 80s and the same algorithms are still in use. I'm sure some people are still running these models in the original language which were to d

Passion is a luxury, for those that don't need to earn money. I'm a bit less interested in coding now that I was as a teenager as I don't really prioritise it in my (much smaller) free time.
