I would encourage you to speak to the wall first in case they run outdoor sessions or see if there are any clubs in your area. This assumes you live in an area with some outdoor climbing. Outdoor bouldering can be done with little equipment

Not sure why this has been downvoted. This place is excellent and you won't be disappointed. Not far from Cambridge and Bletchley park in American terms.

Good luck! If you like walking try and walk around the centre as much as possible (without using phone mapping ideally), you'll realise it's quite small really and get to know the place. Take some time to experience the history, a

Before stackoverflow and chatgpt/copilot we had man pages and physical books. I guess some notes are still useful for some things, but like you I rarely refer to them. What I do find annoying is when someone asked me about something I

That was my thought also, thanks for providing another perspective. What I do see in the UK is that businesses are very keen to appear trendy and follow FANG etc they want to model their IT on startup culture or acquire startups to refresh

I haven't really seen it in the UK but it may be something that applies more to Startups/FANG anyway. Hopefully this kind of thing might be phased out by AI, one benefit!

Regardless of how ridiculous it seems this is a result of the isolationist policies of the US government and there will be traction to invest in such things in EU, Asia and beyond even if the whole thing becomes a complete non-event.

Shortage of workers is an excuse to bring in offshoring or short term visas / save money. I would prefer strategic longer term permanent immigration of quality candidates rather than moving the skills and knowledge overseas.

I'm not sure getting out of Europe would help that. Where would you suggest, maybe Canada, Australia, New Zealand but the situation will continue to be volatile I think. I don't think going to US is ideal at the current time for E

As below, Physics and Maths degrees tend to have high entry requirements, large amounts of hands on (classroom or labs) hours, lots of highly focussed students. I observed this while studying Electronic Engineering, which I would say is sim

The reason I posted this is that it seems a surprising angle from the BBC to be worried about small businesses in China.

I think this is fairly commonly understood in the UK/Europe at least where they tend to mandate this rubbish. Surely the law should just state that Necessary only is the default... On some sites you have to drag 10s-100s of sliders to

Bus pass is issued by the government though. Student id is issued by the college. I know because I made one at the student union to help with getting into nightclubs (allegedly).

I'd probably do either the aws or azure architecture exams. I use both fairly often but have a bit of a gap on the infrastructure side. Alternatively I might do some actual building in serverless technologies rather than just drawing p

Not just satnav, but as a kid I could remember at least 20 phone number of close friends and family. My spelling used to be quite good, but now I struggle with words my 9 year old can spell. I think this is the way with any new technology,

Socks are horrendous, they don't last more than a year. I only noticed this 3-4 years ago. This didn't seem to be a problem for the 45+ years I wore socks before then.

I haven't read every comment on this thread but it's highly likely that the use of wifi in the appliance is not for the convenience of the consumer, but more likely for the convenience of the designers and anyone having to service

Defence roles have always been quite prominent in the UK IT sector. I've been offered at least 3 roles in defence in the past but not accepted one yet. The first was following my masters in electronics and was related to radar design.
