Speaking about F# and readability: Reading F# (and Ocaml) without an editor sucks: - Nobody bothers to include type or visibility annotations in function prototypes. Signature files are not local and thus are not included in diffs etc. If y

"Do not talk to the police" does not mean "do never cooperate or be utterly destroyed". There may be some damn good reasons to cooperate, but you need an attorney to estimate the impact of any statement you make, even if you did nothing wro

Hum. That rant goes against F# itself, not against the book, notably the less than stellar support for GUIs. The book itself is fine, albeit a little bit expensive. The criticism of this review, as well as the optimism expressed by the blog

This website reminds me on one thing about internationalization: Do not, under any circumstances, serve auto translated content by default. It's horrible, and a little bit insulting. If you don't have the resources to do a proper translatio

I agree that we should be careful about glorifying suicide, but if you want to minimize suicides, you have to raise awareness about depression among those affected by it and the people close to them, not tabooing it. If the affected acc

Just to make it clear: This was sarcasm. I never have dealt with armed libertarians beating somebody up because he supported unionization. The point is: Neither has he encountered union thugs beating somebody up because he was against union

Gosh. Ever dealt with a union election? That's exactly the problem with non secret ballots. You vote for unionization and libertarians show up at your house. Libertarians are among the most violent people around.

Kim is not a hacker. At least he wasn't when the media declared him one, as he had never written a single line of code. Maybe he learned something since then, but I doubt that. His talents lie elsewhere. He was very good at deception - he s

If you work with .net, the code contracts project[1] is halfway there: It's quite ugly and they made some design decisions I don't agree with (for the wrong reasons, i guess...), but it has had a tremendous impact on the quality of my code.

This looks promising. Nothing that has never been done before, but I really like the support for baked in doctests and contracts. This kind of sugar can make a real difference in terms of quality and readability #from the website, bec
