This is for good reason. Rapid tests are substantially less sensitive and often give false negatives, especially for asymptomatic cases. There are also a lot of rapid "at home" tests out there that have high false positive rates,

This is probably a less unusual opinion than you'd think - power steering, especially modern power steering, insulates you from the feel of the road. The argument is usually hydraulic power steering vs electric power steering these day

I absolutely think Ubuntu's update cycle is a big part of why PHP 8 doesn't have a higher adoption rate. The PHP webapps I write are all served by Ubuntu servers (on 20.04 LTS) and there isn't an official PHP 8 package yet. E

I think PHP7+ has provided a lot in terms of modernization and focus on the OO paradigm. For what it's worth, there are a couple of tools out there that should help getting your personal app up and running on PHP7 if you're intere

Interestingly, I have an app using Heroku Postgres that seems to have had zero issues during this outage. I can see data that was stored during this period of time and Rollbar doesn't show any DB connection errors.

This isn't really a sight-seeing thing, but grab a cheese steak! Pat's/Gino's are the famous spots where everyone takes photos, but IMO they're mostly tourist traps at this point. Worst cheese steaks I've had w

Some people may not consider it a beater, but rental cars get treated like absolute crap (regular gas even if they should get premium, traditional oil vs synthetic, renters beat them up because they don't care). If I were choosing betw

Obviously there are many other big issues, but the things you've listed don't have a (direct) impact on climate change specifically. There's lots of things going on that damage the environment in various ways and I agree that

What kind of bugs have you seen? I haven't tried Tailwind JIT yet but I'm hoping to eventually switch over a work project and I'd love to have some idea of when I'm getting myself into.

Wouldn't Docker still need a VM for Linux containers on any non-Linux OS? My understanding is that it uses the host's kernel, so running it on macOS would always require a VM.

So I'm a Vue developer who hasn't ever actually built anything in Svelte, but Svelte uses a really cool model that's completely different from Vue and React. Where Vue/React use a virtual DOM, Svelte is compiled to essen

I don't think this is a hard problem to solve, it's just outside the scope of the site generator itself. The best way to handle it probably depends on how you deploy the site, but one option would be using the at command to either

One thing to note here that's a bit ambiguous in your comment - an M1XX with 128 GPU cores would still have substantially fewer GPU cores than the 2x Radeon Vega II Duo. The Radeon Vega II Due has 128 compute cores and 8192 stream proc

There are lots of 18650 "manufacturers" that actually just buy used batteries, re-wrap them, and sell them as new. I imagine that used Tesla battery packs may be used for this purpose pretty frequently. Unfortunately while this ac

Cooling on new Mac laptops is nearly-nonexistent. I'd wait for ARM (if that will even be usable for you) or go for a PC if you plan to do anything except editing text files and using SSH.
