While satirical, they specialize in investigations, especially related to insider knowledge and whistle blowers. Only the tone is not serious, the content is alway backed with proofs. Le Monde, an authoritative newspaper as well as others p

Complete bullshit. If Apple had put a shady HTML form it would have been the same. People in the east cost put their alarm clock at 3am, I don't think the design of the page made them change their decision

I'm a strong supporter that when it comes to office furnitures, a company should really spare no expense. This is stuff we use everyday, so better feel comfortable with it. And yes, totally agree that it depends on the person. Would be stup

I usually type in my browser address bar, which searches to Google directly. I tried my query on Stack Overflow... Google still gets a better SO question than SO itself : http://stackoverflow.com/search?q=insertObject+atIndex+zero+...

Every time I see a link comparing search engines, I try them with hope, but always go back to Google. My last search confirms this : * Google https://www.google.com/search?q=insertObject+atIndex+zero+bu... * http://www.bing.com/search?q=

Thanks for the trivia, I had no idea. Anyway doesn't change my point : Hacker News née Startup News is great because of these two cultures.

But this website name is Hacker News. Configuring text editors is closer to hacking than talking who got funded no ? I think the combination of the two groups makes HN interesting. We probably all agree that the two last groups are the on

That, and the hints that he is interested in doing Siracusa-style iOS reviews. I love long form pieces by Gruber, but if it's also inspired by the great detailled reviews of Siracusa, I think it will be awesome.

I agree with atacrawl... No one would ship a boat if it didn't float. It's acceptable in todays software to ship a very simple version, especially on mobile devices, and Grid looks awesome. I wouldn't want more feature in it for version 1,

So that was pull, not push. Push notifications was exactly the solution to the problem of apps constantly pulling in the background. Sparrow couldn't do push because they didn't want to have our emails on their server. Now that Google owns

I don't know about Quora and OKCupid, but the iOS App Store is a terrible app ! Scrolling sometimes hides the whole table view, the sign out button are not responsive, and don't even try to open past purchases if you have a lot. I agree wit

A proposed bill to ban software patent would be great, but maybe Google, Apple and co. actually "like" the status quo ? It's a kind a dissuasion weapon that only huge companies can get, so even if they don't like to fight with each other, a

I've been a developer for more than five years now, and I met a lot of brillant people that are more than a 100 times better than me. I also saw code and people that are so bad that I would qualify as a A player... Compared to them. I'm pro

Actually they don't want to access your email, so they can't run a push notification service. And Apple Mail.app does the pulling thing, so allowing to change default Internet app or Mail app would not cause a problem : another app pulls, t

Well, I'm certainly not as classy as Dan, kudos to him. But I don't see the point of hiding my disappointment just because I don't know them personally. As Dan said, when you listen to people on the radio every week, you feel close to them.

As much as I love iOS, I'm sad of some of the comment saying it's normal for Apple to block Chrome/Firefox for security reasons. Tablets (arguably, only the iPad, really) are the future of computing, like it or not. Having a single browser

This is terrible. Overpriced web service that sends emails to a single address, 20-lines script calling the API using jQuery $.ajax (why the dependency ?!) and sends the request with GET instead of PUT or POST...
