Low bandwidth mesh for email ought to be viable, I'm sure that used telecoms equipment could enable a 'good enough' network, although perhaps using QRP APRS equipment would reduce the cost when starting from an energy demands

A car, treated right, will last upwards of 100 years, whereas pets have a more finite lifetime. And all they really need is to be stored and used right, with a little maintenance work. Either case is an irrational idolatry though

The best thing is to fence its presence, such that there are periods in each day where screens are not involved. Unfortunately I have not done well at this lately, but a proper alarm clock and turning my phone off at night was helpful to me
