That sounds shockingly like a bug I remember one of our best developers finding when I worked at Homestead in the late 90's (and I remember being in awe then of his ability to deduce the pattern out of the seeming randomness).

I don't think it's that straightforward. It's hard to vote for something that doesn't come up for a vote. And it doesn't come up for a vote if the right people don't want it to come up for a vote.

Not to mention they are no longer "cool". I hear younger developers talk about Jira like I might talk about Internet Explorer. Without Jira, the Confluence Wiki loses some luster. HipChat of course has been overrun by Slack...e

Whether that's exactly his reasoning or not, there's no doubt that it's exactly the vibe that he gives off, and exactly why he is so beloved. People are attracted to the sense of existential authenticity that he exudes.

> "Just like a salesperson would ideally like an open bar, programmers would ideally like an open budget for snacks/toys." I'm a programmer, but according to this my true calling is in sales.

Yahoo Sports was a quality product, until the redesign that I understand Mayer micromanaged. Now I find it unusable and I find myself going to nfl.com, mlb.com, or ESPN instead.

Sorry, I can appreciate some devil's advocacy, but I'm just not buying it here. Assuming the Tesla employee was unarmed (which I think is a safe assumption), then there's nothing potentially dangerous enough to justify runni

But what part of standing behind a vehicle in order to write down the license plate is "pursuing a vehicle? What action is left that would be acceptable in your manual...duck and cover?

Dude, the Tesla employees just asked them to wait for the sheriff to arrive. It's not like they jumped on the hood of the car. Writing down the license plate number should not get you run over.

Wow indeed. Not once, but twice, intentionally ramming their Jeep into some poor employee. That's sociopathic.

Completely agree. I don't see any hovering going on. Of course, I'm still on the losing side of the battle against the "sharing economy" phrasing, so I might as well accept this one too.

Yeah, I was reading a little about it and it's fascinating. It's a case of the full product development capabilities moving into the actual factory, so no outside company needs to design or own the product. The actual factory st

Honestly? I'd say don't reinvent the wheel. Underlined links with the changing cursor and/or clickable buttons are what the user expects, so give it to them.

Eh, not really. A lifestyle business is your main source of income. It's not a side project. It's just not a startup because there is no massive growth expectation.

One of the comments on the original article nails it. The real problem is conflating "estimates" with "deadlines" or "commitments". You see it with the casual replacement of "story estimating" with
