It was a forced error in the sense that Ding forced that exact endgame for no real reason and then fluffed it with 10 minutes on his clock plus increment. What's incredibly sad is that Ding clawed his way back into the match in game 12

Well, Ding's prediction was right, it wasn't a short draw. Horrible end to a another pretty disappointing cycle. Ding's game 12 win to tie the match was a positional masterpiece but it ultimately seems fitting that his blunde

I've always earned roughly the same from Premium Bonds as the equivalent savings, and it's tax free. Doesn't seem a terrible deal as long as you're filling your ISA up each year. Plus you have a frisson of excitement eve

I'm personally very glad that the word has adhered itself to a bunch of AI stuff, because people had started talking about "living more agentically" which I found much more aggravating. Now if anyone states that out loud you

Have you looked into something like Materialize? That’d give you realtime updates over even materialised views, works to back Hasura etc.

On the off chance you’re _the_ Sesse, can I thank you personally for your analysis site. Pretty sure I saw it hit 5000 viewers during Ding’s magnificent win this week.

ChessBase is a horrible program and you don’t need it to get your own tablebases. You can generate your own with: https://github.com/syzygy1/tb But everything up to 6 pieces is on BitTorrent these days. The 7 piece tab

There are companies that will charge you 6-7 figures for what you can do in a few dozen lines with DSPy, but I guess that’s true of many things.

I think it’s less about companies getting ready for scrutiny (although that’d be a great side effect) and more about giving angels and other early stage investors better access to secondary capital so they can reinvest the proceeds. The UK

Absolutely loved this game. I used to try and fly an F4 Phantom through the canyon at top speed. My brother created a short film "Attack of the Killer Christmas Trees". Endless fun.

Seems like you could go further than this with something like DSPy and start evaluating which tools contribute to successful outcomes. Funny how much things start to look like Eurisko the more time goes on.

When WotC first offered digital cards, they had a system whereby you could redeem a complete set for its physical equivalent. At the time this helped convince naysayers they weren’t giving money for nothing. Twenty years later, with their l

I have no idea why it needles me so much, and I will cathartically accept any downvotes, but why has the phrase “digital twin” entered our lexicon when it just means “model” or “simulation”? I’ve worked with incredibly smart AI engineers wh

On the tactical level, absolutely. But the poster child at a more system-wide strategic level is the classic bogeyman of a Java codebase ruled by XML config and dependency injection of overly-abstract components. And many parts of our codeb
