From my experience, Chrome installs default to en-US without trying to pick up language settings from your computer. (I'm probably doing it wrong) Not an excuse, but it sounds like they don't trust accept-language to be correct.

Saying the program was scrapped is a bit off. It makes it sound like nothing has come out of the project at all. Choose and Book is widely in use, the Spine exists, as well as the N3 network. Data format and transfer standards are coming in

My problem with encouraging people to break the law is that they can delude themselves into believing that there will be no consequences to them personally. No matter how right you are to break the law, you will still have to face the conse

Re showing when things don't work. That's the best part of the egghead videos; showing things broken. I forget sometimes how much you learn from doing it wrong before doing it right.

mental illness is an illness where something has gone wrong with the body in the same way that cancer is an illness where something has gone wrong with the body. Stigmatizing it in any way is not useful. Telling people to "just be happy!" i

It's a lovely experience (I wouldn't use the word game). We had a wander over the weekend, it was surprisingly good as a joint adventure and I'd definitely recommend going through it with at least one like-minded person.

One thing I've learned from having to do rapid prototype development is to just put fingers to keyboard and go. If I find myself getting stuck in the cycle of "this can be written better, I'll just spend 2 hours improving it rather than fin

Amen. After having been abused by employers who didn't understand why an employee wouldn't want to work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, for months on end (I'm not exagerating here) I have a slight skepticism of people looking to abolish a fi

There was a similar story in a This American Life episode about the PSA test for prostate cancer. There's a short interview in Act One with a doctor who was sued for malpractice for allowing a patient to choose to not have the test. http:/

I've got a boss, when he's talking something up, every other word out of his mouth is "fuck". It's not abusive, but it isn't useful. Extolling the virtues of a product by saying "it's fucking awesome" doesn't tell me anything about that pro
