I had high hopes for this and was immediately turned off by #3. I still can't believe that their are developers who believe that design is just the pretty layer on top of their functioning infrastructure. It's not. That said, I wi

Great point. I would love to see some study done around this. It's the combination of poverty and crime that leads to such disaster in most cases. It's not even a lack of community, in my experience both have very strong social ti

I disagree with this premise. The cost of quality customer support can easily be mitigated by factoring it into cost of your product. "Software is eating the world"... and it's allowing companies to scale customer support more easily throug

The "Dropbox Alternative" marketing line seems to really be what's confusing people... this is not Dropbox. You have to have a source always online, there's no third party service sitting in the cloud syncing all of your computers, it passe

It's a complicated issue, but glad that a company like Rackspace is taking a strong stance against patent trolls. It's not necessarily the patents that are the problem, but the companies leeching off of and taking advantage of the system. T

Not sure it'll be a huge consumer hit, but you can't argue that they're innovating, they're continuing to push technology further.

Sure, the transition isn't happening rapidly, but the agism you see in engineering now, isn't going to last long. You aren't a better engineer when you're younger, so by default the more experts in the field that are older will naturally ca

Good point, it's why it's such a difficult situation to be in. You really do have to block out everyone EXCEPT the customer that's actually using your product.

I don't have any data to back up this theory, but I believe that the trend towards less recreational benefits is due to an aging engineering talent pool. But until we make this jump as an industry we'll continue to see ping pong tables and

Google has done an amazing job of mixing really shitty practices like this with really amazing things like the self driving car and glass. As long as they continue to diversify and innovate they will have supporters... even if they often br

I feel like this is a point that is often lost. It's why being an entrepreneur is such a huge risk. You have to be stubborn enough to succeed in a world where the majority of people will tell you you're going to fail, you have to ignore all

Not sure if the message is that clear. If this were their stance they should have announced multiple cities today instead of piggy backing on the Google in Austin announcement.

Great to see you and other companies head in this direction. If you have revenue early enough it's a game changer. Glad TechStars is supporting you in this decision.

My impression is that most pitches that happen at that stage are simply growth rate followed by revenue projections, no real magic when you're seeing the growth that they are.

Really excited about the Disney catalog titles. Will be interesting to see how this plays out short term for them, I can imagine a lot of families subscribing over the holidays.

"Additional labor cost and complexity" seems like poor reasoning. The long term benefits would seemingly outweigh any short term savings in labor cost.
