Because they give more benefits (insurance, lounge access, cashback etc...) and someone has to pay for this (i.e. the merchants). For example R̶e̶v̶o̶l̶u̶t̶ ̶M̶e̶t̶a̶l̶ premium cards and corporate cards which offers benefits such as lounge
