It seems too good to be true. Surely they are offering up to $1,000 trade-in for iPhones beginning with the iPhone 12, right?

I wonder too, but suing is expensive and demands some time that we don’t have. Yet we did notify the cybercrime team at the police department, so maybe they will do something about it.

Recently, my grandmother got herself scammed when trying to pay her bills, because she clicked a Google search ad for a fraudulent website posing as the local gas company. She lost some money and, of course, some of her personal data as wel

Considering that the opportunity cost for not switching jurisdictions seems to be no longer being in that particular business, any obstacles along the way seem minor in comparison.

I stand corrected. I failed to account for the fact that e-ink displays are pretty expensive, and those with color capabilities are much more.

That truly depends on the jurisdiction. International treaties are not generally above a country’s constitution, and there are several countries where the right to education and to access literary works might take precedence over copyright.

At this point, the Internet Archive should consider simply moving to another jurisdiction. Decisions like this are a shame, because they hinder a proper way to deal with piracy. Physical libraries compete with book sales too, but of course

I concur. For a device of that price, size, and considering the reading and note-taking use case, only 229 ppi is abysmal. Why cut corners in a key part of the product?

That has little grounding on Brazilian law, because Starlink is not wholly owned by Musk. If it were the case, the Court could have blocked and seized Starlink’s assets, as long as there were adequate reasons for doing so. But, as it stands

Not something I’ve seen recently, but Carrd’s landing page is stuck in my mind as a great example of a landing page. It’s beautiful, to the point, and provides immediate access to a demo, without the need to create an account. You can see f

I don’t see now pages this way. For me, they have always been about having a personal space in the midst of an increasingly commercial web, where few things are under our control. While I don’t have a now page myself, I do appreciate the ef

I mostly write Markdown notes in VS Code. With the help of some Bash scripts, Pandoc and Calibre, they are converted into PDFs, ebooks and websites. When I need, I use Git to sync the notes between different devices. I chose this method bec
