What's private about a web search, exactly? For unauthenticated sessions, Google does not use HTTPS by default. If I click through to a SERP link, my search referrer is passed to that party. They can do what they want with it, includin

Not fair; the public was not prepared to deal with that situation; now they are. Pilots carry; attendants and passengers are knowledgeable to fight back. And that's including revoking most of what the TSA has become.

But the post I responded to is wrong. Blocking third party trackers does not block my hosting of the JS file; this is only discouraged for most trackers. Most trackers also have a gif-pixel option and by default (eg. quantcast) or a server-

You do know that sites will track you without javascript or ads? As well, do you browse without cookies and images, as those extensions will not help you there? And without session IDs in URIs, since you seem to want the web to return to by

Throughout this thread, you purport that Taren wants to blame and hold responsible MIT for Aaron's death. When, instead, from start to finish, she is calling out their actions that lead up to Aaron's "decision." Their &q

MIT's a bully, and they should educate themselves on the lengths taken by their state's legislature to help prevent suicide [0]. Aaron might have played a part in his own actions, but if MIT is OK with Aaron being classified a cyb

Frameworks don't magically solve these concerns. I can create my API with Django, and there's no guarantee that I will restrict my endpoints to authenticated parties or I guard article modifications to their authors, for example.

I believe patio11 is positing -- I would -- that the user already knows his destination (or has a good enough idea) before waiting on a backend search for pricing. Maps, trivia, weather, etc are useless information in the majority of cases.

It would be nice if seasoned veterans did not submit crap and regressions. It would be nice if there was documentation coming out of our ears. It would be nice if P always equals NP. It would not be nice if Linus were a saint.

And? What makes something right? Or that there is only one right approach? That's Linus's point; having everyone agree and hug it out is a waste of his time. You don't have to report directly to him to make things happen.
