I'm assuming you mean physical assets that you can keep local? Otherwise historically investing in stocks provides a good ROI with no additional effort.

I'd imagine that a circle/sphere would add all sorts of manufacturing, engineering, and build (ie actual installation in the box) concerns.

Can someone explain what this adds over Google Drive? More importantly, is it taking anything away? The blog post sure didn't provide that necessary info.

I believe the author is referring to the lower tax on capital gains than on income in many situations. I haven't read it personally, but I understand that Thomas Piketty's “Capital” discusses this at length where there's a bu

Real wages are rising (in fact one of the better periods since the 1980's): https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LES1252881600Q It's a complex topic but a click-bait-y title. It's basically looking at nomi

FWIW, it's not just ShareLaTeX... I learned LaTeX a few years ago and through the tutorials and resources I used I learned the `$$` syntax. I'm a very infrequent user, but this is the first I've heard that it was depreciated

Even though you can't draw any meaningful conclusions from this, I think this is a great effort. The results are weird in the sense that the results in the scenarios don't resemble our current outcomes. A couple of comments on tha

It was inevitable that the tech would progress to this, and continue getting higher resolution and more frequent. Account may be required, but here's an excellent example of the use: The Oroville Dam. https://www.planet.com&

In Colorado, non-liquor stores are capped at selling alcohol at 3.2%. Varieties in many types of beer were sold, some specially made for this type of distribution. We called them "grocery store beers".

To what degree is one expected to derive meaningful results? You can compare for a close match, but drawing conclusions in aggregate is sure to be inaccurate. There's simply too much bias in this type of sampling.

Wouldn't $7 be on the low end? I would imagine that the average is somewhere closer to $15, as the distribution would be skewed to the higher fares.

Thanks for the responses so far. One thing I think is interesting is how much mindshare Apple has in the innovation field. Are there other companies (in particular non-tech) that stand out?

Thanks for the response. I think the reasons for not requiring authorizations are really good. I think the 'internal startup' idea is good... Have you had experience with it or know of a company besides Apple that did something li

Makes sense! We think that breaking out of the daily tasks is important. One area that we are also struggling is whether or not to include the sales/product team in this. Typically, we already work on their ideas, but we want to help

I totally agree - you can't force ideas. But what we are trying to improve is that instead of everybody working to meet the daily requirements, that we try and shift the culture to recognize that ideas need room to breathe and time to

Thanks for the perspective. Yea, I was hesitant to suggest pitching an idea before granting the 10% time because a lot of ideas need more time to percolate before sharing. Do you know of cases other than Google about sharing time between th

Population size needs to be factored in. NYC, LA/SF, Boston, London, Chicago, and a couple other large cities are pretty much always the top, primarily because they are the largest English speaking population centers.

I agree with the sentiment... somewhat. For example, I prefer the Android Facebook to the iPhone. But the entire blog is about pointing out anecdotal instances where the author doesn't like Android? I would much rather hear from a develope
