Probably a good time to mention that apples processors have such better single-core performance that real world internet speeds are usually much faster. For example, my buddy has fiber and my Android CPU maxes out at 400mpbs. He gets close

After Google threw half of Android into "Google Play Services" I don't believe it. > Then anyone can code implementations to that interface for whatever cloud they like in separate repos, similar to the way `database/

Each to his own. There's definitely a risk there, perhaps I'm more vain or insecure than most. Almost every guy I've let in on my "secret" has declined to take it themselves

Isn't that exactly what you would expect if the threats were real? I'm not a believer in conspiracies but some of the large tech companies are well known for trying to silence critics. Although the same could probably be said abou

It was a critique a couple years ago about how big G lost its way, possibly betraying the original wishes of the founders. Contained what may have seemed like insider information, but was largely a summary of Glassdoor reviews and scattered

I don't believe this, although it's definitely a common opinion. There's many medications that never lose effectiveness so they don't limit future options. For instance synthetic insulin clearly never stops working, othe

I would rather work with a bunch of people that were similary grounded/jaded about work, but whatever floats your boat. My team is a pile of nice people with no illusion of only showing up on Monday for the money. The work environment

That sounds like a fairly bad idea but both Java and C# let you access the stack and mess with variables from previous frames if you really want to. You can't access stack memory outside the heap hut I can't think of a use-case

Same could be said about antibiotics or basically any drug we've discovered. Just like antibiotics being useless if you wait so long the infection is killing you. It's not surprising to me that finasteride doesn't bring back

Replying to myself because I'm getting the usual flak from guys that didn't take it. It's about 90% effective at preventing further loss. If you don't consider that a cure I don't know what you're looking for.

I don't think the options are so bleak. Serious side effects from finasteride are something like 1% of users. I've been taking it longer than I can remember with zero side effects except I haven't lost any hair. Most recent s

Hair loss cure has been around for a while, at least for MPB. Been taking finasteride for almost a decade and haven't lost any hair. Most guys are scared away by rare but serious side effects. But most of the problem seems to be gettin

I really wish everyone would just move to GRPC and be done with it. GraphQL just feels too tied to the datastore on the back end to be generally useful. REST/Swagger is hugely overcomplicated for the basic REST premise of moving object

Very true. Although I have had people come back and say I was right. Not the trend follower, but those that blindly trusted them (usually most of the engineering team)

I don't think this is really news. Anyone with an SDR good enough could easy replicate and alter GPS signals. Since the satellites are so far away, spoofing and jamming are simple affairs. You could affect GPS for miles with something

I don't understand how NPM is such a dumpster fire. Countless other languages use package systems for a decade without constant issues. I get the feeling pure JS is too dynamic for such a large codebase to be reliable. We switched to T

Admittedly, you're probably right. I had some trouble finding friends to hang out between 14-18 because I was too "serious". Not everyone likes hanging out with someone who acts like an adult at that age. Definitely considere

Completely agree. Back in the day, children began to be treated as adults around 12-13 as long as they proved themselves responsible enough. I remember riding my bike 10-20 miles when I was 12-14 before cell phones, visiting distant friends
