Very interesting. And this is an amazing graph for small file uploading/download speed improvement. I have the feeling that all cloud drives are really not optimised for many small files like smaller than 1Mbytes in average. https:&#

I don't agree. What I do agree on is to do it not only with one LLM. Quality increases if I double check code with a second LLM (especially o4 mini is great for that) Or double check tests the same way. Maybe even write tests and code

About libraries or systems unknown to AI: you can fine tune or RAG LLMs e.g. with a MCP server like Context7 about special knowledge/libraries to make it a more knowledgeable companion when it was not trained so well (or at all) about

Results can vary significantly, and in my experience, both the choice of tools and models makes a big difference. It’s a good idea to periodically revisit and re-evaluate AI and tooling. I’ve noticed that many programmers tried AI when, for

I would even classify aider a different way because it avoids what the blog posts is talking about (or moves the responsibility more to the human). In aider you can manually define or basically override which files are important for your co

I just hope you keep still trying with whatever tool you want. I see among many developers to see frustration once after some deep testing of AI coding tools and then they never look back and never try again. This means they will be stuck w

It's not a myth. I don't promise that better tools solve every problem but it can increase quality and usefulness of the output. One of the main big problems of (nearly) all AI coding tools is to get enough context of understandin

And I tell from personal experience: The tools matter (!) for more complex problems. Op said literally "Am I just not using the tools correctly?" and I said for the 2 of 3 tools OP tried are so new and experimental I would put the

There are two key points which are important to get most out of LLM coding assistants: 1. Use a high quality model with big context windows via API (I recommend Openrouter). E.g. Google Gemini 2.5 Pro is one of the best which keeps constant

Tell me about it. Web development has only become fun again at my place since upgrading from Intel Mac to M4 Mac. Just throw in Slack chat, vscode editor in Electron, Next.js stack, 1-2 docker containers, one browser and you need top notch

Thanks for mentioning open-codex. Did not notice that there is a codex fork which is open to other models (update: totally missed that original codex allows that too now). How do you like it? Especially in comparison to Claude Code?

yes! It's great! I like it! But it has one downside: It's not so good on unknown big complex code bases where you don't know how it's structured. I wished they (or somebody else) would add an AI or an automation to add f

It might shock you but many of use editors built on browsers for editing source code. I think the encapsulating comment from a another guy (in Docker or any other of your favorite VM) might be your solution.

I miss Pascal. Learned Object Pascal end of 90s but used it nearly never in my professional career (only a few months with Delphi during a student job). I really never used C or C++ in my professional career which is also interesting. Nowad

interesting, did not know about that one! Thanks. (Small) but XSLT is not covered by it which is my main usage of XPATH unfortunately. I will do some experiments with using newer XPATH on JSON... that could be interesting.

Interesting take about XSLT. But I agree... XSLT could be something much more simple (and non XML initself) and combined with XPATH. It feels like a lot of boiler code to write XSLT.

E.g. massive XML documents with complexity which you need to be transformed into other structured XML. Or if you need to parse complex XML. Some people hate XSLT, XPATH with a passion and would rather write much more complex lxml code. It h

Strange bugs on Mac made me switch to OnlyOffice (and also open source) for the very seldom local file editing of office documents (using mostly Google Workspace).
