Cloudron solves this going from the other side: they package apps themselves. To support transparent migrations and backups.

Several apps that try to solve this. Good one, but costly, is cloudron. It allows you to one click install a wide range of self-hosted apps. Cloudron itself is subscription software that can be installed on own server or many cloud options

I asked why Trump likes numbers 4 and 7. Apparently, this is forbidden topic! Google is insane.

Yeah, I spent last summer learning and programming attinys in Arduino and soldering small hacks. This is certainly appealing in comparison to microservice monstrosity I write in a team at work.

If this were true, people who have most money and need tools most would be people buying Apple. Instead, people take loans to buy Apple to show how cool and rich they are.

This assumes Putin cares about all that. Political scientists who study authoritarian regimes are pretty sure the only thing Putin cares about is keeping power. For that, poor population alienated from the world is exactly what is needed.

Interesting that these kind of things are done by less known companies, not the big names. At least that's my (uninformed) impression.

By itself or linked to other data? Afaik PII is usually a set of linked data. As in common name and surname are not PII. Together with age, they can be.

If I understand your point, counterargument is that hn comments are made by people who are almost certainly in top 20% by intellect from general population. Compared to some subreddits and YouTube, comments here are made by geniuses.
