Yea, this really isn't very complex markup or style -- especially considering they only coded it for webkit. It just looks like it would have been a lot of work because it's so slick and polished (typical of Panic).

Their 'test' solution sounds like the way to go. If they figured out a decent way to simply bust the whole page for the adblockers they should just go for it. If I went to a site and it was totally broken due to my blocking the ads I would

Sorry, I still maintain that pushing to a live site is a bad idea -- and that includes indirectly pushing to it with a auto-triggered script. Deployment should always be a deliberate operation and not related to simply pushing code to a b

I don't have a single peer using Windows either. As a fellow escapee of the windows world you may be interested in a (non-flash) alternative to balsamiq called Mockingbird ( http://gomockingbird.com/ ). It uses the Cappuccino framework (so

Just because git gives you a method (hooks) to do stupid things doesn't mean they should be built into it. Pushing to a live site (or even just the implied case of pushing into a non-bare repo) is a bad idea. If you want to use hooks (or

One thing to keep in mind is that it's totally normal to have a ton of unfinished experiments and stuff lying around. When you start a new project/experiment write yourself a note in your calendar in, say, 8 months to go look at it. By the

Why doesn't this app work for you in that scenario? Say you're in PST: put on the right hand side 11:59pm and EST --> 8:59pm that same day. Say you're in, oh I don't know, Nagoya: same thing on the right hand side --> 1:59pm the nex

I feel like (after looking at examples and so on) this actually makes it harder to read quickly. Maybe a 9th grader can concentrate easier on this stuff but I skim text a lot and this just seems annoying. And don't even get me started o

Are your datapoints from Google Analytics? If so keep in mind that they are reporting 'screen resolution' not the dimensions of the browser window... I'm sure you're right though, most users (especially Windows users) maximize their windows

Clearly this is a major UI-fail on HN's part for not knowing you wanted just the article and not the comments link :) That doesn't bother me, though. What bothers me is that your site isn't facebook! WHAT IS GOING ON!?

So how do the people wanting something (poster and voters) find out about it when it gets made (or told about it if it already exists)? Am I missing a feature?

It's just that people with resolutions like that usually don't maximize their browsers (wasting 600+ pixels with nothing but white).

But why should all the resources be exploited? Why not, you know, just use what we need? And why should the people in the Netherlands live at the same density that people in NYC do anymore than vice versa? I don't see what 'value' people ha

As far as population goes, we are not close to the carrying capacity of the planet. There is space available!? Well what other option could there be other than to fill it with people? I mean, clearly, the human race can't shout 'we win!'

I think it hasn't caught on yet because there's no (last time I was around anyway) solid, decent, recommended deployment strategies. It was once suggested to me on IRC to use only one instance of a node app because it's "non-blocking"...
